"Jose personally contacted me immediately after I submitted the job request. He was very professional and courteous. He told me his earliest availability and set an arrival window. True to his word, he called 30 minutes prior to arrival. He cleared the clogged line and told me what he found. My toilet and bathtub are working like new. Payment was very simple. I’m big on professional and service relationships. Jose will be my family’s plumber going forward."

"Mr. Cameron Parker at Southeast Drain Cleaning is PHENOMENAL !! He responded right away; came on time; tried to clear my sewer line THREE TIMES with no success. So, Mr. Cameron talked with The City to come back out and fix my sewer line. Then he replaced my toilet. Mr. Cameron explained to me, over the BEFORE coming out that my his FLAT RATE would be $200.00 !!! plus, any parts he needed to purchase. Well, with EVERYTHING, Mr. Cameron charged me $70.00 ONLY !!! "They were outstanding !!! Work and equipment way better than Home Depot and Lowe’s water heater. All new valves, pan, cut off valves, connections etc…. Left the work area clean! I would recommend them."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

The normal water level in a toilet bowl is about halfway full. The water should sit above the P trap drain because this creates a seal and suction. When you flush the toilet, the suction keeps sewer gases from entering your house through your toilet. Anytime the water level is higher or lower than half full, you need to make adjustments or replace broken parts.

Even if you’re not very handy, DIY toilet repair is something many people can handle. However, that doesn’t mean that every repair project is something to try to take on yourself.

On paper, replacing a toilet flange is rather straightforward. However, it requires heavy lifting and critical thinking, especially if things don’t go according to plan.

If you notice water leaking down the side of the bowl or tank and you don’t notice any cracks in the porcelain, the odds are that it’s condensation. If you notice water around the base of the toilet, this points to a leak. Check for loose bolts. A sewage odor may also indicate a broken toilet flange.

Installation costs range from $150 to $400, depending on toilet type and labor.

Yes, you’ll need to replace your toilet’s wax seal any time you move the toilet. This is because movement of the toilet will break the seal, rendering the remaining wax useless. Thankfully, replacing a wax seal is fairly easy, and the seal itself only costs $2 to $10 at most home improvement stores.

When replacing a wax seal you typically also have to replace the closet bolts that secure the toilet to the flange. These are usually about 2.5" - 3" long and have to be cut once the toilet is secure. Cutting them usually makes them too short to reuse.
