"Foster returned all calls and texts, and showed up as scheduled. Total of three days to prep, stain and apply second coat (which included removing/replacing all metal spindles) . Foster and his employees were professional, courteous and did a great job. I was extremely satisfied."

"Got a quote from Elisha to fix some trim work. I asked for a quote to paint the whole house and an exterior building to match it. The quote was very reasonable and I decided to have his crew do it after reading their reviews. Fernando and Simon did a fantastic job! Simon is and excellent carpenter and did much more than I expected. Fernando is a very experienced painter and gave me great suggestions. They both were very thorough and had an impressive work ethic. Elisha worked with me through several changes in the work that needed to be done. I would definitely hire Elisha and his crew again."

"This company is very professional throughout their work process. They met with me the day after I made the work request, and prepared an estimate the same day. They executed the outdoor painting job as soon as the weather permitted, and I could not be more pleased with their work."

"After we saw the job he did on our driveway we hired him to wash our house as well. We were very picky about the house but he listened to our concerns and performed the job to our exact specifications. We asked him to use a product with no bleach, and to use a soft brush instead of a high speed power washer. The house looks great."

"Review by Sandra V. Project: Install baseboards & door casing & caulk doors Good people to work with. Provided the detailed, itemized estimate that I requested. Project took longer to complete than anticipated, but the overall quality of the work is great. I would use this contractor again."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Whether you can paint over your existing paint depends on what’s on there. Most of the time, you’ll want to sand down or scrape off the paint that’s currently coating your surface. Epoxy paint, for example, won’t let new paint stick to the surface. Latex paint is more forgiving and will accept a new coat, but a primer is recommended if you’re switching colors.

Exterior paints contain more volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, making them dangerous when used indoors. Without the free ventilation of the great outdoors, it can take longer for the fumes to dissipate than interior paint. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.

There are deck restoration products and oil-based wood stains that can help bring back some of the color and shine to your faded Trex decking. However, if your boards are suffering from serious fading due to UV rays or chemical cleaning products, don’t expect miracles. Also, these products are only suitable for use on the older Trex boards, not the capped, second-generation Trex products.

Liquid rubber is great for waterproofing, but it can damage your deck if it’s not applied correctly. First, it can trap moisture in the wood if the deck isn’t completely dry before application.  Second, applying it too thickly can create a heavy, rubbery surface layer that peels and cracks under fluctuating temperatures. For the best results, ensure the wood is completely dry before application, and apply the liquid rubber in thin, even coats. A quick inspection every now and then will help you catch any issues early, keeping your deck protected and looking its best.

Waterproof paint creates a barrier to hold back moisture, but it doesn’t eliminate the source of the water. If you hire a basement waterproofing contractor, many will tell you that waterproof paint is only a temporary solution. On average, you can expect it to last from six months to two years in a wet basement before deteriorating.
