A 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 Super Service Award Winner in multiple categories; including Kitchen & Bath Remodeling. Legacy Builders is a full service, Baton Rouge-based residential building / remodeling and contracting firm. Our many Angie's List Super Service Awards demonstrate our commitment to our client's satisfaction. We specialize in Kitchen & Bath remodeling, but will also help with any remodeling or building project you have in mind. Our desire and motivation for every project is excellence in workmanship and a positive experience for our customers.
Louis and Glen are the best. They did a full remodel on our master bedroom and bathroom. This included turning flat ceiling into cathedral ceiling, new drywall and insulation, new wood and tile flooring, full closet reworking, new tub and sink, new bath tile, new windows, new mini-split a/c unit, new light fixtures, and new exterior siding. He gave us a timeframe, and sure enough, the project was finished up within that timeframe. No delays, no excuses. All the work is extremely high quality. We told Louis what we wanted, and he worked with us to make decisions that were reasonable for our space and within our price range. If one of our ideas wouldn't work, he'd take the time to explain why. He never tried to push us to anything more expensive than we wanted. He works with excellent electricians (Ray and Francis), excellent painters, excellent sheetrock guys, and excellent frameless shower installers. Throughout the work, Louis kept telling us that all he wanted for us was to have something that would be special for our family. That's exactly what he gave us. After the big bathroom/bedroom remodel, we've gone back to him again for an additional shower installation, some electrical work, and even some roofing. I would trust Louis with any project. Unlike other contractors that we spoke to, Louis is extremely responsive, punctual, professional, trustworthy, and courteous. Most contractors are flaky. Not Louis. He's easy to get a hold of, and he'll be there when he says he'll be there. If he does work for you, you will be his priority.

Louis Rogge did an excellent job rebuilding my porch and deck. The craftmanship was top-notch and his fees were reasonable. As with most rebuilds, more work needed to be done than was visible at the beginning of the project. Louis took much time and care to ensure we agreed on any increases in scope and fee. I highly recommend Louis and his crew.

Louis classed up my wife’s home office with wainscoting and paint. Over the 4 days he worked we watched a magical transformation from blah to WOW. Every bit of work was done well and the quality was better than we expected. Louis was professional and transparent throughout the whole process from working up the quote to finishing. He even offered to move all the furniture back but we declined bc we thought WE would need to clean up first. But that was not necessary. He had cleaned up so good that it was like he was never here. My wife is in love with the results of Louis’ work and now she has an office that all her Zoom coworkers envy.
Legacy Builders did an amazing job remodeling our main bathroom and performing repairs to our upstairs bathroom. We really appreciate Louis' thoughtful approach to the entire renovation process and how he found ways to keep costs low without cutting corners. Louis and Glen's expert workmanship made our downstairs bathroom function so much better than before, and it looks beautiful. We have trusted them for several jobs in the last few years, and that trust has only deepened. Would highly recommend this team.

Louis, Glenn, and their team did a fantastic job under difficult circumstances, and not a day longer then expected. Louis went into this remodel knowing there was a mystery water problem which had plagued our kitchen for years. The toll was rotted under cabinets, insulation, dry wall and an additional 4 days waiting for things to dry out and discovering the problem. Louis has the patience of a Saint, the knowledge of an expert, and the fortitude to discuss difficult options in a way that are understandable and comforting.

Louis (the owner of Legacy Builders) and his team did an exceptional job fixing up my home for a reasonable price. The communication before, during, and after the project exceeded my expectations. I recommend Legacy Builders to all of my friends and family and plan to have them do some remodeling work for me in the future. If you want a friendly, honest, competent, local builder, go with Louis.
Description of Work: Replacing and painting water-damaged soffit and fascia, repairing damaged door frame and replacing hardware
We had three separate contracts with Louis Rogge and Legacy. He was so easy to work with. Everything was done well and on time. One of the best parts was how well he communicated about everything. There were no surprises or hidden costs. We would recommend Legacy to anyone who needs a contractor. It was a pleasure to work with him.
Description of Work: We remodeled two bathroom. Updated kitchen. Removed popcorn ceiling and painted interior. Added crown molding. Porcelain tile installed.
Legacy did a fantastic job. It was a small part of the garage I wanted enclosed and accessible from inside the home and it looks like it was originally built with the home. I was very impressed with the attention and detail they gave to this project. It was a small one so I didn't expect a contractor to give it much attention but they did. Stayed on schedule and first rate workmanship. I am definitely hiring them again.
Fantastic! Louis and his crew were responsive, attentive, tidy and so very considerate and professional. He custom built sidelights for our French doors and a transom window with stained glass we purchased. Workmanship was top notch and we love our new study!

Louis/Legacy was referred by a friend. Best referral ever! Louis listened to what I wanted and quoted us on the work in phases, as I requested. The quotes were reasonable an in line with others I had gathered. Lewis's subs were responsive and respectful. They started on time and gave a full day's work. The job was finished in a timely manner. The end result was exactly what I wanted. I was very happy with Louis's support throughout the work

Legacy Builders just finished an addition and full remodel of our 75 year old home in Mid City and we are thrilled with the work. They helped us update the entire house, while staying true to the character of it. They updated the existing portions of the home (sheetrocking and fully renovating the existing bath and kitchen) so that the look and feel of it all could match the addition of the home, as well as building a covered carport that matched our home and a covered patio. We were nervous about doing so much to an older home, but felt really good about it after starting the work with Legacy. The project ran smoothly because they are great communicators. We always knew where each phase of the project was, what was being worked on, and what was next. They were very honest about what our options were within our budget and were a great resource in helping us get the look and feel we wanted within it. It really felt like we were a team, and like they cared about the outcome as much as we did. Every crew that worked on our home did excellent work, and were also professional and respectful of us and our property. The contractor and specific teams met with us about our expectations at each phase of the project. They kept a neat, safe workspace the entire time. The finished project looks top quality and was well worth the money spent. I would absolutely recommend them for any building or remodeling needs.

Louis and Glen came in and did an outstanding job. They finished all work in 2 days and were able to include additional tasks not in the original scope of work. What was particularly valuable to me was their willingness to find reasonable solutions to tricky problems while keeping things within our budget. Highly recommend this company.

Excellent work. Louis is local and does much of the work himself with a small dedicated crew. Easy to work with and always aims to please.
Description of Work: remodeled master bath including new tub and shower as well as wall, shower and floor tile.
This project involved the complete removal of everything in the outdated Master Bathroom, existing cabinets, floors, walls, plumbing, insulation, and also the concrete removal to re-locate the toilet and tub. A "California-style" closet was also added adjacent to the master bath. Louis and his team did everything possible to meet the scheduled completion date, from working 16 hour days to working on weekends. They were professional, courteous, and respected our house from the first demolition day through the final day of the shower installation. Louis helped with the initial design and worked with us extensively from the selection of materials through each stage of the process until completion. Every detail was a collaborated team decision, with several meetings with the various subcontractors. Louis wanted to make sure he supported our vision of the final end product. The quality of the worked performed was fantastic, you can tell he really cares and is very particular on how things are done. The end result was above and beyond what we envisioned. They also were able to add in a special request for crown molding in the master bedroom and cabinet replacement in our guest bath. We would also like to thank his team, Glenn and Jacob, true master craftsmen that came to work on time every day with a professional, positive attitude. Louis and his team are honest and hardworking, I would and have already recommended Legacy builders to anyone who has a remodeling need and wants high quality work at a very fair price.

Let me start off by saying that I am an engineer. I am extremely detail oriented and meticulous. In March 2019, I hired Legacy Builders to completely remodel our front porch and interior walls in our bedroom and our dining room. Being an engineer, I wrote a multi-page detailed scope of work to make sure nothing was missed in the bidding process and in the construction process. The work was extensive replacing headers and beams, plywood, and trim. They literally had to jack the porch up to remove the old beams. They also textured and painted everything they did. The total project took approximately four weeks and everything looks brand-new. They kept the job site clean and hauled off all of the debris when finished. Since I work out of my home, I was able to I monitor every step and was extremely impressed with the care they took. They did exactly what they said they would do for the price that they quoted. No hassles and no haggling. Louis Rogge, Jonathan, and Glenn were extremely professional and always on time. They are honest and do the best work imaginable. I would hire them over again and highly recommend them. I can't say enough good about them.

This project involved completely gutting a dated kitchen and bathroom, and relocating a laundry room. The renovations required a whole host of new plumbing and electrical work, new windows, cabinets and flooring. The finished product is nothing short of spectacular, and we plan to hire Mr. Louis Rogge and his team to renovate the home’s remaining two bathrooms as soon as possible. Mr. Rogge treated my entire family with the utmost respect and professionalism from the moment we called to inquire about an estimate until the day he finished. His pricing was exceedingly fair, and the job was completed early. The entire process was a joy! Mr. Rogge followed up numerous times to confirm that everything had been completed to our satisfaction. His crew exceeded every expectation and took tremendous pride in their work. They also took care to identify potential issues or hazards as they got to know the new-to-us home, taking the initiative to make corrections or suggest remedies that will save money and frustration down the road. (The did everything from purchase hook latches for our screen doors as a safety precaution, knowing we have a toddler, to seize an opportunity to proactively replace pipes on a poorly-draining tub adjacent to one of their work areas.) Every single person involved in this project feels like family to us now, and my 2-year old daughter continues to ask for “Mr. Louis”. We give Legacy Builders, LLC our highest possible recommendation for quality, pricing, professionalism and timeliness. They made the process look effortless, even though I know it was anything but!

Louis Rogge’s crew finished the exterior wood siding and paint job in July 2016 at a cost to me of over $50,000. In less than two years (April 2018) the there was peeling paint and rotting wood on almost every exterior surface they had worked on. The caulk and paint in the joints had cracked open in many places letting water in. Despite his previous promises, Louis stalled for months and then declined to repair. I had to pay another contractor to fix his failed job. Louis admitted to me that his “job failed”. The total repairs cost $15,400. His inadequate “insurance” only paid half. My out of pocket loss is $7,700, which Louis still refuses pay. All this has been a nightmare for me. I feel cheated. (see images below)
Description of Work: Removal of exterior vinyl siding and repair of original wood siding for a large 4400 sq. ft., two story home. Also prime all new wood and clean and paint the entire exterior. The original wood siding was painted redwood set on a diagonal pattern on portions of the house. In the contract discussions Rogge told me that he was “fully insured” and that he “stood by”and “guaranteed” his work. At the end of the job Rogge told us that if we found any problems with the work, tell him and he would come and “fix” it“

Response from Legacy Builders LLC
There are a few points that might help to give a more complete picture of this situation, and with all due respect I would like to include them. After completing the original project in 2016, you posted a very positive review (all A ratings), and had us back a year later to perform another project of similar size to rebuild and stain a large multi-level deck off of the rear of the house, You also gave us a perfect rating when that project was completed. A year later, you called with regards to the peeling paint issue that was becoming noticeable. I had never run into this issue before, so I contacted the Sherwin Williams representative to look at it with us. After walking through the project and discussing possible causes for the damage, we decided to bring out some reputable painting contractors with extensive experience to weigh in on the possible causes and solution to the damage. We did not want to cover up whatever was causing the peeling (and some rotted trim) without identifying and fixing the problem. Every single professional that examined the job concluded that water was getting in behind the siding, and the result was the peeling and rot (on approximately 5% of the siding / paint job). After meeting with the Sherwin Williams representative and myself, you opted to not only do the repairs necessary to restore the affected areas, but to do a complete exterior paint job, including a large carport area that was not part of the original scope of work that we were contracted to do. As far as I can tell, the only difference that you and I have is the degree of responsibility that I have with regards to the damages. You feel that you are entitled to reimbursement for an entire paint job on your home, including the repairs. I feel that my responsibility is to repair and restore the damaged and peeling areas back to perfect condition. I spoke with the contractor that was hired to do the repairs and painting, and questioned him about the cost of the actual repair work and prepping, priming and finish painting necessary to restore the damaged areas. His price for that specific scope of work, labor and materials, was $3,000.00. He also told me that you had asked him the same question, and that he had given you the same price. At the conclusion of the project, you called me and demanded full payment for the work (($15,400.00). In response, I offered to start a claim with my insurance company to address your expenses. You accepted, and I contacted my insurance agent, who then opened a claim on your behalf. Within a few months, you negotiated a settlement with the adjusters in the amount of $7,700.00, at which time you and your wife signed off on the claim, agreeing that you were satisfied with the settlement, and that no further collection activity would be undertaken. Never the less, shortly thereafter, you called me and demanded that I pay you the balance. The fact that you were reimbursed $7,700.00 for $3000.00 worth of repairs and painting seems to me to be quite generous. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience and aggravation that you were put through due to this situation. I very much enjoyed the working relationship that we had, and wish it would have had a better ending.

It went great. We had no idea where the leak was coming from but knew it was significant due to the damage. Lewis and his team took the time to diagnosis the probably correctly before proceeding. He repaired the shower and installed a tub. He did a great job, and I'd use them in the future for anything that they do.
Description of Work: Lewis fixed a bathroom remodel that the original contractor screwed up
I love architecture, always have, always will. This combined with an unhealthy fixation on HGTV's flipping shows led me to purchase a true fixer-upper in a historic neighborhood. I truly didn't realize just how much fixing up my nearly hundred-year-old home needed. This realization dawned on me right about the same time I realized I wasn't a carpenter and neither was my fiance. The gutter backing up and flooding directly into my mail slot one day really helped drive this point home. We sought out and interviewed a few contractors with zero success before stumbling upon Legacy Builders on Angie's List. We liked the aesthetic portrayed on Mr. Louis's website and we obviously loved all the glowing reviews. I really appreciated the first contact, we both interviewed the other for fit. This really made me feel like I had someone genuinely interested in the project and that I wasn't just a paycheck. At the start of the quote process, Mr. Louis took excellent notes, many photographs, and accepted my written list of expectations. He arranged interviews with window subcontractors and offered his advice on what questions to ask and what I should be thinking about long term. There was never any judgment and I was never made to feel dumb or even worse, cheap. It was important to me that all the new work fit the old work and Mr. Louis really took that to heart. Numbers discussed, contracts were signed, and the work began. When everything was said and done, we had all of our windows replaced, the entire house scraped, siding replaced, soffits, replaced, house repainted with two accent colors, gutters replaced, porch screened in, shed torn down and replaced with a custom build that was painted to match the house, carport was essentially rebuilt, subfloors were shored up, the front room where the flood occurred had the wall torn out and rebuilt, wainscoting added, wallpaper added, and decorative accents added. We also had light fixtures changed in a couple of places. That’s a whole lotta work and a whole lotta time to be seeing someone and their crew. It says a lot about Mr. Louis and his crew that we all still like each other and the fiancé and I are planning our next project for a few years down the line (bathroom renos). Throughout this entire process, Mr. Louis was exceptionally conscientious and communicative. I personally am not a micro manager and I really appreciate that the job was done well and executive decisions made when necessary without the project stopping to wait for my opinion. Touching base and checking in is one thing but I don’t like to revisit the same conversation over and over. Mr. Louis was well deserving of my confidence and the house is amazing. Now the sordid topic of coin, despite little surprises coming up here and there, our final numbers were almost exactly what we were quoted! Like, within a couple of dollars. How often does that happen? And our house was transformed from a rotting, haunted mess into a truly beautiful and unique piece of architecture that stands out in our neighborhood. We are proud of our home and looking forward to the next phase of our life (wedding bells and kids). It makes us happy to know that we have someone like Mr. Louis and Legacy Builders to get us through all the changes that will come and the updates that will need to be made as our lives go on and our family grows.
Description of Work: Nearly hundred year old home needed a facelift and a whole lot of body work
Louis was easy to work with on this project. It required plumbing changes, adjusting walls, new floor, a pocket door addition, replacing a tub, installing and tiling a new shower with body jets on opposing walls. The two workers, Jacob and Glen were on time and cleaned up each day. Setbacks extended the project from three weeks to a bit over five weeks, but it was well worth the wait. I particularly liked that he listened to our ideas, changes and questions with patience and clear explanations. I would hire him again for future projects.
After 21 months of dealing with incompetent handyman, we turned to Angie's list to find our savior, Legacy Builders. Louis and his crew delivered everything that was promised and more. His crew was considerate, neat, and took extra care to protect our furniture and floors during the repairs. They arrived ready to work at the designated time promised and were meticulous and thorough in the work they did. We are very satisfied and will definitely use them again in the future if repairs are needed.
