"Javier and his workers did an excellent job at a reasonable price. I especially liked that they cleaned up before they left. Besides that, they were all very nice people. I will definitely hire again when the need arises!"

Small jobs welcome

"Paul arrived on time and started job immediately and we did a walk thru showing me all the spots that I was concerned with would no longer be present and he was 100% correct...The house looks like it was just painted but I am now ready to start with a new fresh paint job. A excellent power wash job and completed it in under 2 hours. Also, have hired his company to turn my walk thru closet into my office because I have two closets in my bedroom. So, if your ready for someone to do a job, I recommend Alexis Home Services"

"Based on what is going on in the world today, I thought young men like Brennen no longer existed. There is hope. Confident, personable, polite, respectful, considerate young man who is not trying - but doing - those things necessary to start and build a business based on his word, his character and his dependability. HIRE HIM! I will. Again and again."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

While you can use various materials like sand or even just soil, gravel is widely considered the best option to put under a deck. It provides excellent drainage and is resistant to water, fire, and pests. Gravel also helps anchor the soil to prevent erosion during heavy rain and acts as a built-in weed blocker, reducing regular upkeep. Furthermore, it is simple to spread, available in various textures and tones, and adds a polished look that complements any deck design.

Composite decking may never warp, or it may warp quickly. Several factors can influence the rate of warping, including the material's quality, installation method, and installation location. Generally speaking, high-quality materials that have been installed properly are drastically less prone to warping.

Building a deck is often worth the investment, not only because it provides more utility to your yard and gives you more space to entertain but also because decks tend to add value to your home. Keep in mind that second-story decks often require concrete footings, which means they will bump up your property taxes, while decks built on the first story generally don’t require a permanent foundation and won’t affect your taxes. Even with the tax increase, decks are usually a good investment in the long run.

Yes, Ipe is more expensive than Trex decking—both in terms of materials and installation (plus, Ipe trees are endangered). On average, Ipe decking costs $10 to $25 per square foot, while Trex decking costs $5 to $12 per square foot. Because Ipe is harder to work with, the price of installation is higher, too. For Ipe decking, you’ll pay between $20 and $45 per square foot for labor. However, with Trex decking, the labor costs range from $8 to $22 per square foot.

In most cases, your deck will need some form of deck footing to hold it in place, preventing moisture from rotting your wood and decreasing your deck’s lifespan. Concrete deck blocks are the most common type of footing for floating decks. Some homeowners use ground-level deck footings. For added security, consider digging and laying your ground-level footings below ground.
