Scientists have found that the chemical traces a dying wasp releases can agitate nearby wasps and make them more aggressive. It may not necessarily attract wasps, but it will make wasps in the area more likely to investigate and feel threatened, which leads to more stings. As a result, it’s not a good idea to swat or crush a wasp anywhere near their nest. Once you have found a nest, hire a wasp exterminator.
Raccoons are primarily crepuscular and nocturnal, meaning they are most active at dawn, dusk, and throughout the night. While less common, they may come out during the day to find food, especially in warm months or during the spring birthing season (April and May) when caring for their young. Scorpions cannot climb smooth, non-porous surfaces because their pincers and feet are unable to get a grip. This includes materials like clean glass, polished metal, and slick plastic. While they are excellent climbers on rough or textured surfaces like wood, brick, or stucco, their inability to scale smooth vertical surfaces is why glass jars and other slick containers are effective for trapping them or creating barriers.
Scorpions can climb walls with rough surfaces (like stucco siding). They need something to grip onto, which is why they can easily climb on clothes, comforters on beds, and other items in your home.
However, it’s worth noting that scorpions cannot climb clean glass. So if you have a hole or damaged area where scorpions are coming in, a temporary fix may be to secure a piece of glass over the area.
