"Very orofessional and friendlyl. More importantly, they showed up. I had called another company and they told me they were backed up from the flood, but would call me and schedule a time. After four days with no call, I contacted Lavalla at 6:00 in the morning and they came that afternoon. Since the crewa were busy doing large flood related jobs, the owner came out and did my small job for me. Cost was $115 less than estimate from 1st company I called. I will be using Lavalla Environmental to clean the ducts at my new house."

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a chance that any paint on your hardwood floors could be lead paint—especially if it was already there when you moved in. Because lead is toxic, hiring a licensed pro to remove it is mandatory. The average price for professional lead paint removal ranges from $1,500 to $5,300 and depends on the scope of the project.

If your house was built before 1978 and you’re noticing cracking or peeling paint, a lead paint inspection is a good idea. A lead paint inspection gives you accurate information about the presence, location, and condition of lead-based paint in your home. This information is essential for making informed decisions about lead paint removal to ensure your safety and health and that of your family. If your inspector finds lead, you’ll need to take steps to manage or remove the lead-based paint and comply with laws and regulations.

DIY lead testing kits are available, but they often lack the accuracy and reliability of professional services. Professional testing is recommended for more accurate results, as properly certified testers can provide a thorough analysis, clear recommendations, and the necessary legal documentation if remediation is required.

“Testing” can start with your senses: Assessing your water’s appearance, taste, and smell can all be good first steps. The best way to know for sure what’s going on with your water is to use a well water testing kit, which can tell you about the specific levels of bacteria, dissolved solids, and hardness of your water with precision. Have a pro test your well water at least once per year.

Several different measurements may be used to determine the amount of lead in water. The most common unit of measurement is micrograms per liter (µg/L), which is the same as parts per billion. Another measurement is milligrams per liter (mg/L), which is the same as parts per million.
