I am a mechanic at a nuclear power plant. I’m also pretty good at other things too. I’m here to make a little side money for my house that I am working on. Just contact me and tell me what you got and I’ll let you know if I can handle it or not.

"They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. It took them a couple of days to do the work. They took care of all the cleanup as well. We've been real happy with them."

"I am selling my house and needed to repair my roof as a condition of sell to the potential buyers.  Hiring Mr. Hills has been the one of best experiences of my house selling experience. He was clearly the best person that I hired to do home improvements and
repairs on my home.  It was very difficult to find a licensed contractor to do a ?small? roof job for me.  I called and emailed a number of people and companies and was either turned down or never received a response to my message.  I called Mr. Hills in the
afternoon and he called me back within an hour. We set an appointment for the next morning and he arrived right on
time.  He and his assistant listen to what I wanted done, he gave me an extremely reasonable estimate and they got directly to work.  They did an excellent job and I am extremely please with the outcome. Both men were very friendly and I felt bad that I was delaying them from moving on because I enjoy talking with them. Bottom line: I give the strongest positive recommendation to Bobby Hills.  He is professional, personable and does excellent work.

"This was not a repair. It was a cleaning, and they did a fabulous job. Very professional and very good at what they do. I will definitely recommend them to anyone who needs their wood-burning stove cleaned."

Chimney Repair questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to repair damaged leather as long as the damage is not too severe. Professional leather repair specialists can fill, smooth, and refinish damage like scratches, cracks, and other damage by color matching the rest of the leather. Leather repair pros can evaluate the damage and recommend a plan for repair or replacement. If the leather is on furniture or another item that’s difficult or impossible to replace, repair is the best option, even if the repair does not match perfectly.

If your drawer slides are made of metal or plastic, it’s best to use white lithium grease to lubricate them. The dense formula of that compound creates long-lasting results and should prevent you from having to re-grease the drawer slides frequently. Test the white lithium grease on a small, less-visible area of the slides first to ensure it doesn’t damage the finish before applying to the entire fixture.

This depends on the furniture. It’s certainly fine for wood, metal, or composite materials to get wet. The same cannot be said for affiliated cushions and coverings. Many of these adjacent items claim to be water-resistant, but poorly-made accessories take longer to dry, leaving plenty of time for mold to grow. Keep an eye on how your furniture stands up to rain before going in with a pressure washer.

Fixing a drawer that is sticky, askew, or broken depends on the specific problem. Start by removing the drawer and examining the slides and tracks for any damage, bent parts, or loose hardware.

For minor issues:

  • Clean and Lubricate: If the slides are just sticky, clean them and the corresponding tracks with a hot, damp cloth. Then, apply a lubricant like silicone spray or bar soap to help them glide smoothly. Also, check any roller wheels for problems.

  • Tighten Screws: Tighten any loose screws on the slides and tracks. If screw holes are stripped, you may need to fill them and re-drill.

For more significant damage:

  • Bent Hardware: If a slide is bent, you may be able to remove it, straighten it out, and reinstall it.

  • Broken Parts: If a slide or track is broken or severely damaged, it will need to be replaced. Unscrew the damaged part and install a replacement that matches the type and size of the original.

After performing the repair, reinsert the drawer and test it to ensure it opens and closes smoothly, making any final adjustments for proper alignment. It can also be helpful to consult the manufacturer's guidelines for your specific drawer system.

Old pianos can be hard to sell for a few reasons. Pianos fifty years or older may only sell for several hundred dollars and will often cost more to transport to the new owners. Restoring a piano also costs well into the thousands, making it pretty hard to make your money back. In most cases, donating or recycling the parts of a piano is more cost-efficient and beneficial in the long run.
