"Communication with Mr. Blanchard was great.  When I first spoke with him about the work he told me when he was able to come out.  He said he would call before he came which he did.  He came at the time we set up.  He gave suggestions as to how to fix the problems.  He performed the work in a timely manner.  He was very professional.  He had all parts needed for the job on his truck.  The bill was very reasonable for the work performed.  Thank you very much.  I will definitely call Mr. Blanchard for any future electrical needs. "

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If you’re wondering whether an electrical panel in the bathroom needs to be moved, the answer is yes. Due to the risks of shocks and electrical fires, electrical panels cannot be located in bathrooms per National Electric Code Volume 70. Additionally, gasses, vapors, liquids, and temperature fluctuations can all compromise the functionality of your electrical panel, so it’s important to install it in a dry, cool, safe, and easily accessible location.

Yes. A pellet stove should have its own 110V outlet and dedicated circuit breaker. Otherwise, it could overload the system. Pellet stoves can create major fire hazards if they aren’t wired properly or have to share circuits. Get in touch with a local electrician or pellet stove expert if you need to run new wiring for a pellet stove.

The major difference between a GFCI breaker and an AFCI breaker is that a GFCI breaker protects against fatal shocks while an AFCI breaker prevent electrical fires. A GFCI breaker senses when the electrical current to ground is overloaded and trips to prevent major accidents or injuries. AFCI breakers trip when it detects dangerous electrical arcing.

If you have a lamp that flickers or doesn’t stay on, it’s a sign that it’s time to rewire it. Additionally, it’s important to rewire antique lamps so they’re safe to continue using without the risk of an electrical fire. If the plug on your lamp is more than 15 years old or you notice poor performance like flickering, you should hire a lamp repair service to rewire it. If you’re upgrading the bulbs in an antique lamp from incandescent to LED or CFL bulbs, rewire it so it’s compatible with the modern bulbs.

If you find the power cables for your appliances are too short, there are ways to extend them for the cost of just the extra wiring you need. Simply cut and strip your wires, solder them together, and cover them using heat shrink tubing. Not everyone has a soldering tool on hand, so if you’re looking to extend in a pinch, an extension cord, power bar, or surge protector can do the job just fine.
