Small jobs welcome

"Once again, quick, professional service from the folks at American!  Finally got around to replumbing under the sink and it is much better.  The bathtub no longer holds water but instead has a nice whirlpool as it drains faster.  Mike was very personable, professional and knowledgable as he informed me of how the replumbing was going to improve my drainage now.  I will definitely call them if ever I need service.  I joined Angie's List today and when I found them here, I posted reviews back through my first service call back in 2007.  Working with the same company for seven years and never having problems means a lot to my family.

"I would highly recommend JCT solutions. We had a room replastered and a new attic access installed. JCT were great at communicating from the beginning and throughout the project. Mark is professional and they are reasonably priced. The plastering team were efficient, worked well together and cleaned up after the project was completed. We are really happy with the end result and would work with Mark and JCT solutions again! Thank you for making our spare room usable again!!"

"Mr Earl and Mr Mike with Stewie's drain cleaning were fantastic. Customer service was fabulous. Although I thought only one drain was clogged from my laundry room, the gentleman checked my water drain flow in my kitchen and saw that it was stopped up from that section of piping in my foundation too - they were wonderful in cleaning out both sections of the pipe for the same price originally quoted. My stoppage from my laundry drain clean out is now resolved and my sink drains super fast! Thank you gentlemen for a job well done."

"Rick came in a timely manner. There was lots of water standing on sidewalk, mostly from the heavy downpour of rain that happened yesterday. The water meteor was completely immersed. The problem was water had been standing on the sidewalk even when there was no rain. After some digging and me giving information about the drain pipe running from the back yard, Rick discovered that the drain running to the sidewalk, which was hidden by the grass, was clogged with mud. Rick assured me if there was another problem after unplugging the drain pipe that I could call him back. I thought the charge was reasonable for the amount of time and labor he spent to find the cause. I recommend Rick's plumbing and will call him back for any future plumbing issues.

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.

You can DIY basement waterproofing in some ways to help save on the overall costs. If your basement isn’t experiencing a lot of water but is noticeably humid, you can try running a dehumidifier that will pull the excess water out of the air. If you notice water leaking due to outdoor drainage issues, you can add downspout extensions to keep rainwater away from your home.

However, if the problem is more severe and requires a more extensive solution, it’s best to call a basement waterproofing professional to assess the treatment you need and install waterproofing safeguards properly. Since keeping water out of your basement is important, ensuring this job is done correctly the first time is best.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

Yes, you can add a battery to your existing sump pump. There are batteries available that can be plugged into your existing system; however, most battery backups come as a complete system and act as a replacement for your existing sump pump.

A grinder pump is a major investment for homeowners and business owners alike. Protect this investment by choosing a reliable and reputable contractor to source the pump itself, install it, and outsource any additional work. Research local sewage system contractors ahead of time to ensure they have the appropriate insurance and licensing. You should also perform a fairly thorough online search to get a feel for the company’s professionalism by reading reviews.

Finally, give them a call to discuss the project. A good technician will be more than happy to get into specifics regarding both the installation process and the pricing.
