"Due to the nature of the ceramic tile work I had to hire S&L Capinetry & Design on a T&M basis. The original installing contractor of the ceramic tile who was a McSwain Flooring contractor did not back butter the ceramic tile in 2021 (new home). Over the years in 2022 and 2023 over 57 ceramic tiles that were loose in the Master bathroom & toilet room, guest bathroom, entryway and laundry room were removed and replaced by the original contractor. In 2025 the problem got worse and ultimately over 62 ceramic tiles in all the mentioned areas were removed and replaced by S&L Cabinetry and Design. I was given a cost estimate based on what was obvious (approximately 40 ceramic tiles). The 2 man crew over 4 days expertly removed and replaced 62 whole/cut ceramic tiles. They installed proper dust protection, were on time each day, gave me daily updates, back butter the ceramic tile, grouted the joints correctly and completed the project as promised on time. EXPERT WORKMENSHIP!"

"Tom did a great job installing a replacement microwave and trim kit into a custom built cabinet, replacing a really old bathroom exhaust fan and replacing 8 electrical outlet boxes from 2 prong to 3 prong outlets. He was knowledgeable, professional, courteous and worked efficiently!! It was nice to have it all taken care of in a day."

"From the first call to the time the service tech walked out the door everything was professional. I had a leaking bathtub facet and our DIY attempts did not help. Maximum plumbing had good reviews so I took a chance. I won’t hesitate to call them again."

"Angi sent a so-called pro (Eric H) to do the work. He stated that he could not 'replace' my basement toilet because the concrete floor needed to be ripped up. He left the new toilet and left. After calling and speaking with Mary (call center in CO) she was very helpful, put out a request to my local plumbers for a 2nd opinion, at that time my phone started ringing. Benjamin Franklin plumbing could have someone (Chris Herron) here in a couple of hours. Great! No, I didn't need to have the concrete tore up, and in fact, Chr replaced the toilet right there and then. I had to hire him of course, but the price wasn't bad at all. Chris did an excellent job, was very professional and dumbfounded that Eric couldn't complete the job! I had the master toilet installed by Angi a few years ago again by another 'pro' (Joe) who replaced the toilet. It rocked on us as we tried to use. I called him back to fix - complete the job, he came out and charged me for his time and left. I hate Angi"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

You can resurface or reglaze your bathtub, and it’s faster and less expensive than replacing a bathtub. Plus, replacing a bathtub is an extensive and intrusive process that requires wall repairs. Refinishing is an excellent option if the old one is in good working condition.

There are also options to install a bathtub liner over your existing tub. However, if you’re seeking a new bathtub with new features, you’ll likely want to replace your tub.

Plan your budget, storage needs, accessibility features, and design aesthetics before starting.

There are several ways to save money on a bathroom remodel through proper planning and savvy design strategies. To reduce costs, consider the following:

  • Purchase your own materials: Buy your own bathroom fixtures, hardware, and other materials to avoid contractor upcharges and delivery fees.

  • Shop smart for big-ticket items: Save on pricey items like tiles and tubs by shopping sales and at discount stores.

  • Avoid major layout changes: Keep plumbing in its current location. Opt to replace fixtures rather than moving them to avoid significant renovation work.

  • Focus on high-impact, low-cost updates: Make affordable but impactful smaller changes, such as upgrading hardware, installing new lighting, and adding stylish but economical accessories.

  • DIY where possible: Handle easier parts of the remodel yourself, like painting or installing light fixtures, to save on labor costs.

  • Time your remodel strategically: Consider remodeling in the spring, which tends to be a lower-demand time of year and may result in lower costs.

If you don’t caulk your bathtub, then there won’t be a watertight seal between your bathtub and the wall tile surrounding it. As a result, water can seep into the wall and the floor and cause the perfect breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Not only does this require costly repairs, but mold can be harmful to those breathing it.

A good soaking tub will allow you to completely submerge yourself in the water, so it needs to be at least 20 inches deep. Luxury soaking tubs are 24 inches deep so that you can easily have enough space to be submerged in the water once the tub is full.
