"CONSUMERS BEWARE! DO NOT DO any type of business with Matthew Barger of Barger’s Tree Services / Barger and Son Tree Services. He is very unprofessional, no integrity and the firewood is falsely advertised! The wood we got was not seasoned nor ready to burn. Its green wood and have to use a starter log to heat it up and moisture boiled, steamed and hissed out the ends for along with the excess creosote. Had moisture meter readings of 27% and higher with some maxing out the meter at 50%. After offering to exchange and scheduling a time, even called and said he was 20 mins away, Matt blocked my phone number and social media. As well as deleted the advertisement on Facebook Market Place and create new ones. You can find plenty of online reviews, previous consumer complaints filed with Ohio Attorney General as well as many court records in Clermont County, all proving a history of bad business and dishonest character."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You need to remove all branches affected by Dutch elm disease. If your tree has several affected branches, you will probably need to remove the entire tree. First, consult a pro to be sure that you’ve correctly identified it as an elm tree. Make sure the tree is properly disposed of with a plastic covering or through debarking, chipping, or burning.

Although the terms tree trimming and tree pruning are used interchangeably, they are very different types of tree maintenance. Tree trimming involves enhancing the appearance of your tree by removing unruly branches, providing your tree with ample sunlight and nutrients and prevents unsightly overgrowth.

Tree pruning helps keep your trees disease-free. This process removes unhealthy growths, dead branches, and other unhealthy parts of the tree. It’s more common for deciduous and ornamental trees but not so common for evergreen trees. To determine which method you need, discuss it with a tree trimming specialist.

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

You can hire a professional arborist or tree removal service to cut down a tree to ensure safety, prevent property damage, and comply with all the local regulations. It’s highly advisable to always hire a professional, as tree removal can be extremely dangerous, especially for large or damaged trees. Certified arborists or tree removal experts have the proper equipment, training, and insurance to do the job safely and efficiently. They can also handle cleanup, stump removal, and obtaining the necessary permits.

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.
