"I highly recommend Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. They cam within a day of when I called, assessed and fixed one problem, installed a new water heater the same day, and returned the next day to install new pipes above the water heater. The plumbers were polite, professional, and explained clearly what they were doing. Pricing was very reasonable and I also have a yearly service contract. Office personnel were also friendly and knowledgeable. Will only use them from now on."

"Shane promptly answered his phone.  After telling him my problem, he stated that he was able to fit me in right away.  He called me back to let me know he would be a little late & wanted to know if this was ok.  It didn't take long & he was knocking on my door.  Shane is extremely personable & seems like he enjoys his work.  He took his shoes off as soon as he walked thru the door.  He told me what he thought it was & already had the part in hand.  Wow!  Shane immediately got to work.  After taking parts of the unit off, he showed rust that he felt contributed to the problem.  After the cleaning, it was a small mound of rust that had built up.  He took the pilot light out & thought that also was part of the problem.  It took him no time at all & I could hear the gas, then the pilot lighting.  After it ran for a few minutes, he tested it to show me it was working.  He then showed me normal settings, adjustments to make & warnings regarding hot water.  I appreciated the information he provided.  In all, it took less than 30 minutes for the job.  I am more than pleased with his service & he has a customer for life.

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

In most areas, drain cleaning professionals don’t technically need a license, as they aren’t altering your plumbing system in any way. However, we recommend hiring a drain cleaning professional with a plumbing license and certification. Certified plumbers are more likely to provide professional solutions to drain clogs without damaging your system. They’ll also have the diagnostic tools and experience necessary to remove the clog entirely rather than providing a temporary solution, as a handyperson might. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your plumber’s professional licenses before hiring.

A sewage smell in your crawl space is usually from a damaged or clogged pipe leaking sewer gasses or actual sewage underneath your home, but there are some other common causes. Moisture, from poor or damaged encapsulation or a malfunctioning sump pump, can harbor mold and bacteria, causing a musty smell. Pests can also get stuck in your crawl space and die, which causes a sewage-like odor.

Septic tanks can clog if they aren’t pumped every few years since solid waste accumulates inside of them. Your tank might also clog if you have a habit of flushing anything other than human waste or toilet paper. Items like diapers, baby wipes, paper towels, cat litter, and personal hygiene products should never go down your pipes.

Preventing water accumulation involves regular inspections, maintaining effective drainage systems, ensuring proper roof maintenance, and taking preventive measures against heavy rainfall or floods.

It is okay to use a drain auger on a toilet, just make sure you are using the correct tip size. The auger is a plumbing snake with a protective sleeve to protect the porcelain toilet bowl from getting scratched. Using too large of an auger can cause the snake to loop back and damage the inside of the drain and plumbing.
