Customers say: Terrific value

"Pete and Neon installed my laminate wood floors, quarter round, and transition pieces for a great price. The transition pieces were cheaper and weren’t easy to install but they put in extra time to make sure everything looked great. I would highly recommend them."

"I first met Santos Velasquez when we requested a quote for creating an apartment from a garage.  He was very professional and arrived on schedule.  It was a large project, building a barn to replace the garage space, and creating a one bedroom apartment in it's place.  He took pictures and notes.  Santos called within a few days and recommended we involve an architect and scheduled a time to meet her.  Again, they arrived on time.  Shari Mullins, with pillar3, agreed to make some drawings.   These proved to be exactly what we wanted! The process was not speedy.  We discovered the septic system needed to be replaced and the plumbing system was dissolving.  We decided to add a bathroom and a closet to the room above the garage.  Santos and Shari worked together, finding the right specialists and contractors, keeping the permits on schedule and the work moving forward. They were professional.  They always responded quickly to calls, texts and emails.  They were always here when they said they would be here.  They listened to concerns and addressed them immediately, willing to make adjustments and improvements as needed.  They put an effort into finding the best quality materials we could afford.  They kept the contractors on schedule and handled any disputes.  We didn't have to worry about anything.  It took about a year, but we love the results and have no regrets!  It did cost more than expected due to pre-existing conditions and upgrade decisions. Santos and Shari both take great pride in their work and I would recommend them for any project, both personal and commercial. "Rick and his team were phenomenal to work with. They were very courteous, punctual and professional. They worked long hours and weekends to get the job done with speed and quality of craftsmanship. We also were able to change scope mid-way through the project and add a glass shower door to our bathroom. Rick also made several recommendations about how to set up things to maximize our available space which we readily incorporated into our plans. Plumbing was the only thing which Rick brought in an outside contractor for and he was someone who Rick works with on nearly every one of his jobs. All other framing, drywall, tile, electrical, brick, paint, demo and installation was done by his team. We have been very happy with their work and will certainly employ them again for future projects. I've given out his contact information to many coworkers and highly recommend J Co. Restoration and Remodeling if you are looking to do a remodel of your home."

"Potter House Group managed all aspects of the restoration and dealt with the insurance adjuster and ourselves as needed.  They arrived on time each morning and completed the job far ahead of schedule.

As I write this, six months later, I really can't think of a single issue that wasn't resolved to our complete satisfaction. The areas in the cottage that had been damaged are now in much better condition than they had been, even before the incident."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

Yes, it would be best if you waterproofed your shower walls before tiling. The cement backing board behind the tile is not waterproof; it’s only water-resistant. On top of your tile backing board, be sure to use a waterproof shower membrane before you start installing your shower tiles.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

Solvents dissolve tile adhesive, but the right solvent for the job depends on what type of adhesive you are trying to remove. For instance, dispersion adhesive requires stronger removers, like bile soap or even paint stripper, but some adhesives, like cement-based products, can come off with water and soap or mortar remover.

The process takes two to four days, depending on the size of the area and your experience level. The first day involves assessing and prepping the existing tile, while the second day is for laying the new tile. This may take longer in complex areas. After letting the adhesive dry for 24 hours, grouting and sealing can be completed on day three. For larger projects or intricate tile patterns, expect the timeline to stretch a bit longer. Also, proper drying time between steps is essential for long-lasting results, which extends the project’s time.
