It's so stressful to work through the maze of moving companies. If you need peace of mind and integrity, all I can say is Wow! From 1rst contact through the process of moving I felt supported and peace. Everyone was so organized and clear on their mission. From their customer service to the time line communications. I am so grateful for this whole experience. Everything was supervised and professional. Chris Whittenburg stayed in contact with us the whole time. Supervision of excellent crews that he hand picked. I highly recommend Chris Whittetenburg. if your looking for peace of mind moving 2,500 miles nothing was broken either! Thank you Chis Wittenburg and your Crew🙏Very grateful for your reliability and the care you took with my things.

This company destroyed my furniture & left holes in the walls of our home. Specifically two leather chairs have scratches on them and missing hardware. Now I’m left with a mess and this company can do nothing about it but have their employees harass me. Unbelievable

Moving coordinator not forthcoming on all details of move. Did not find out until day packing & loading crew arrived that I was required to be on site during entire process. I work full time and had not put in for vacation time for the week that packing/loading was to take place. She finally grudgingly said I could be gone, but only for a couple of hours at a time. Fortunately for me, my employer was flexible. She also grossly underestimated both the weight and total amount of the household goods to be moved. Finally, due to the topography of our street, it was deemed unsafe for the tractor trailer to come down to our house and a shuttle vehicle should have been utilized. However, by the time the company realized that, the contract had been signed off on by our new employer. She tried to get more $$ from our new employer, but they basically said tough luck. So while these things mostly worked to our advantage, Fister has come across as not knowing their business. Since we had so much to be moved, our packed up household easily filled an entire semi trailer. But due to the mover coordinator's inability to accurately evaluate the size of our household, we were assigned a driver/rig which already had a partial load going to another destination. Our goods ended up packed into two different trucks rather than simply getting us a driver & rig that could take everything in one vehicle. That necessitated two different delivery dates on the destination end. A move this big is exhausting for everyone, not least of all, the party being moved. The last thing we needed was to have to deal with two different unloading dates and two days of exhausting upheaval at our new home. As I had made this reservation almost two months before the move date, this is unacceptable. Packing and loading crew worked very hard, I will give them that. This is hard, boring work for, I suspect, not much pay and these guys earned every penny and probably should be paid more for what they do. Minimal breakage of only a few items discovered on the other end so we are satisfied on that front. The driver of the rig who supervised and was hands-on regarding how things were loaded - he gets an F. The packing crew is all about dismantling any and everything they can to maximize space for loading. They managed to wrestle one of three sets of legs off my grandmother's dining table (approximately 100 years old). They could not get the other two sets of legs off. Rather than putting the 3rd set back on & simply top loading an old, likely relatively fragile piece of furniture, the driver made them load it on the bottom, sans one set of legs and then loaded weight on top of it - all the way to the top of the truck. The table was wrapped in furniture pads, but that flat top was just too much to resist for this guy. It was shattered upon arrival and unwrapping. Let's see: old, compromised with one third of support not there, excessive weight on top, jiggling/bouncing + weight for several hundred miles - what do you expect might happen? DUH! I found a skilled woodworking restoration shop and took it to them for a repair/refurbish estimate. This was necessary in order to file a damage claim with Fister. The very knowledgeable owners/craftsmen gave me a number and part of that total was to completely refinish the repaired table. I was not going to claim that amount, only the repair. I submitted a claim which was approximately 63% of the total. Fister/United eventually got around to sending one of their local adjusters to the shop to look at the table. This guy seemed pretty annoyed that I had taken the table to a shop before he had a chance to look at it, HE was supposed to be the one to provide the estimate. When I pointed out that I would not have known how much to claim without an evaluation, he still acted miffed - as if I was the one who had done something wrong here. When his estimate came in, it was abundantly clear that he has no idea what he is doing. His estimated repair amount was commensurate with duct tape & super glue - it was 25% of the amount I was claiming and only 16% of the total repair. The regional United rep who is avidly pursuing business with universities was contacted by our new employer. His response - shrug, tough luck, we go with what our adjustor says, nothing we can do. Actual position: we're just not going to do anything for you. Our employer is not satisfied with our experience with Fister and United, they paid the bill for this move. They are considering not approving United movers for any further university contracts. It is a small community of individuals who handle these business moves and word will no doubt get around in that university community about our experiences. Overall grade of D as there were some aspects that were OK.

They didn't send enough workers. Furniture received some damage. Credit card info used for the move was stolen, probably by an office worker..

Please read my experience before hiring this company. I have had an awful experience, and do not want anyone to go through the same thing! I hired Vincent Fister for a large move (semi trailer full) across the state move Spring 2016. An agent came out to the house to price the move. They were to help finish packing and move my things into storage. I paid an upcharge to have this done on the weekend, so I didn't have to worry about taking days off from my new job. I was also encouraged to purchase additional insurance to cover full replacement value of my belongings if anything was damaged in the move. Three people came to pack up my house that Saturday. Two of the three were pitiful at their job and you could tell they obviously did not want to be there. They left without doing a walk-through of the house, and I discovered the next day had totally neglected several kitchen cabinets worth of belongings. The packers were also supposed to leave appropriate materials for the movers (4 different guys who came the next day) to protect my furniture, but neglected to. When I heard the movers discussing this on Sunday, I offered to run to the store and purchase whatever they needed. I stressed that I was only keeping some of my furniture because of sentimental attachment and that I wanted to make sure it was not damaged. They said that was unnecessary, and that they could 'make it work'. I trusted that they could and knew what they were doing. There was some problems with the truck and some rain, and my belongings did not get unloaded into storage until Tuesday, instead of Monday. Not a big deal. Five months later, I am at a place where I have room to get some of my belongings out of storage. We make a trip to the storage unit to get some things and I discover that a lot of my items are damaged. I am extremely disappointed, and looking back believe that it was all very poorly packed and protected---but also believe that they were extremely careless because they thought it would all be in storage for two years or more. Wooden furniture is all scratched up. Gorgeous four post beds, completely scrathed up and werent protected in any way. Some pieces have parts busted up. Some pieces have screws that have stripped out and are wobbly and no longer together. Boxes of belongings are crushed. Some boxes had glass and breakables that were very poorly packed and are broken. I haven't yet made it halfway through the storage unit, and honestly have yet to discover a piece of furniture that was in the condition it left my house in. I contacted Vincent Fister about the poor packing and damage, and was told by the representative who did the original quote that I had 9 months after the move to file a claim. She put me in touch with the claims department immediately. The lady in the claims department told me first that she 'knew most of the packers' and that 'they would never do such a poor job'. She told me she would look into it and that she would send me a claim form. After that, I was given the run around. She did not call me back within the time promised. I would call back, and she would return calls and leave me voicemails right before she was leaving for the day--when I called back immediately, she would already be gone. I spoke with someone answering the phones, asking to speak with her supervisor--left a voicemail that was never returned. I finally contacted the representative I booked with again. She spoke with the lady in claims and said she had no recollection of ever speaking with me. So, I called her again. She spoke with me for 10 minutes, denying having ever talked to me. Then she suddenly remembered. She stated that since the driver had not recorded any damage and that it was put into a storage unit (that had not been touched since they put it there), that there was nothing they could do. I explained that I did not understand, since the obviously damaged the furniture. And that I had been encouraged ti purchase the additional property protection. She said she would speak with her manager and call me back. She returned the call this time, but only explained the same thing again. I asked why I was told it would be covered and encouraged to purchase the additional protection then. She said she did not know, but transferred me back to the original representative to ask. I left a voicemail. Again, it has not been returned. Completely given the run around. Again. I believe that the people doing the job did not think I would notice any damage until after the claims period was up, and therefore did not worry about my property. I realize it is just 'things', but the furniture I decided to move I did so because I meant something to me and it is devastating to see it damaged and destroyed. I am extremely disappointed with this whole experience and that a company would handle a complaint this way.

This was a some what complicated move.  I have used this company prior to this situation and things went fine.  This time was a very different experience.  The did a long distance move from PA to their storage facility in KY. I was using their storage for part of the items while I waited on a unit to become available at a retirement complex in Ohio.  Trouble arose from the start with one of the mover/packers sent over from the local united van lines office. One of the packers was very good but the other gentleman didn't seem to have the same understanding of how to properly pack items. For example, my lamps were packed with their bulbs still in them. Another lamp that was jointed in the middle was not loosened and folded together and secured, thus breaking.  He moved a filing cabinet with all the files in them. It was too long of a trip for all that weight in the cabinet to be swaying around on the truck and it ended up causing the drawers to buckle and not work right. There was another filing cabinet packed by the other  mover who removed the files and put them in a box so the filing cabiet itself arrived in perfect shape.

I had paid for complete protection for this move. When the items arrived at the storage facility, there was a bill of laiding waiting for meto approve that my items arrived. The gentleman assisting me with this form advised me that nobody takes the full protection for the storage area and told me where to inital to make that choice, but he directed me to sign the wrong line that was related to the actual move portion of protection.  I had no idea that was what I was initialing and certainly would not have waived the protection I paid for.  In addition, I wasn't given an opportunity to actually look at the items to make sure nothing was damaged because they were in cartons and there was not enough time to go through each carton. I feel like there wasn't enough effort given to making sure I understood exactly what I was agreeing to on the paperwork leaving me without any protection . There ended up being considerable damage to items and mold on wooden a book case and several broken items from being packed poorly.

When I spoke to the company about signing the wrong line, they did not respond to any of the points I raised about it being a misunderstanding and bad advise. They just told me that I signed the form and it meant I waived my coverage and that was it. There was no negotiation or exceptions made for my situation. The woman I worked with when I first started this process was very conscious about explaining every step to me and made sure I was clear on how the move would proceed. She set me up to have the expectation that I would have every step explained to me as throuroghly as she had done, but this was obviously not the case. When I brought her attention to the problems she basically told me that there wasn't anything she could do. She did tell me that had she seen my initials on the waiver of coverage she would have checked with me before processing, which leads me to believe that someone should have and didn't.  I did contact an attorney about taking this company to small claims to get reimbursed so the damage done to my items, but the cost of the case would outweigh the amount I would potentially win.

I have removed all my items from their storage and will not  use them again.

The team led by Tony came on a Monday to pack and load and per our needs took the truck for overnight storage for a delivery the next day. The team leader Tony explained all the security measures taken to ensure our belongings were safe and in an air-conditioned warehouse (I had a professional piano packed in this move). They moved the piano very well. The team leader assured me he knew how to move pianos, and he did! We appreciated that Tony had the team organized for specific jobs, for example, Tony had one man designated for packing the truck and he knew what he was doing. He did a beautiful job for we had no breakage. Likewise the next day, one man was designated for unpacking the dispersal went very smoothly.
The team spoke with each other very politely and positive. They helped each other and they worked very diligently and hard!
My husband and I were very impressed! They arrived on time and notified me before they came on Monday and they arrived the next day precisely when they said they would.
Let me say this again, this team worked VERY well together which gave us peace of mind in all the craziness moves can bring.
This is not our first move, we have moved interstate several times, but this team really impressed us!

"At Vincent Fister, Inc., we strive to perform moves with the utmost care and professionalism. Damage to a customer's household goods is extremely regrettable; however, mistakes do happen and a piece is occasionally damaged. In this case the customer had 208 items and the repair specialist confirmed that 2 pieces were transit related damage. A customer has a choice of selecting the free valuation which pays a certain amount per pound should there be damage or the full replacement valuation which has a premium that the customer pays as a part of the move. Both coverages are explained in detail to a customer at the time of the estimate. This customer selected the free valuation. We paid the claim according to his selection; however, he was dissatisfied with the settlement and threatened to slander our company. Apparently he has followed through with his threat. While we deeply regret that there was damage, this review is unfair and inaccurate as the customer made the selection of the lesser valuation."

Awful Experience. We had never used movers before so we thought we would try it with this move. HUGE MISTAKE!!!! The movers weren't bad but they worked very slow. At any given time, only 2 of the 4 were actually moving stuff. A few things got dinged, cracked and scratched. As far as the sales people and the company, AWFUL! They are crooks. We were quoted at a 8 hour move and I knew there was no way it would take that long. We moved out of 3 bedroom house under 1800 sq feet. The night before we moved 90% of our boxes ourselves. They sold us on this "it's a short move so we will use a smaller truck so we can just load and dump and it will cut down the move time." The movers packed that truck so tight it was bursting at the seems. They were upset as well that the company had given us a smaller truck because after this loading and loading, WE HAD TO MAKE ANOTHER TRIP! The company admitted the movers didn't read the orders. They were nice enough to give me a 30 minute discount!
Response from Vincent Fister Inc Moving & Storage
"In reading your review, there are several inaccuracies. Based on the size of your home (1800 sq. ft., approximately 8500 - 10000 lbs.), the job was estimated to be completed in 8 hours. The no cost survey and estimate was clearly explained that our charges are based on the actual time worked. The entire move took 6.5 hours to complete and was $189.00 under the estimated price. Vincent Fister, Inc. employees were honest and professional in handling this move."

"Thank you for taking the time to provide a review. I would like to address a couple of your comments. Due of the nature of the heavy lifting and carrying of your furniture, our worker's will perspire, especially during the time of the year of your move. However, our workers are drug-screened, criminally background checked, in uniform at each job. Regarding the damage to the washer, the type of liability that you claimed was our minimum level of coverage (.60 per lb). The claim covered the weight of the washer times .60 per lb. The other option was the full coverage with $0 deductible which you elected not to carry. The cost of the full coverage would have been an additional cost of $150.00 which would have covered the replacement of the washing machine."

After calling individual came out within 24 hours to give me an estimate. Was able to schedule the move within 1 week. There was some follow-up required on my part to ensure scheduling. Vincent Fister estimated our moving costs and performed the move (for
Corrigan Moving) excellently.  The estimate was a bit high, but I'd
rather that that it be lower than the actual costs.  The estimator was
superbly professional.  The movers were top notch, putting padding on
doorways to protect the woodwork, putting covers on the floor in the
high traffic areas to protect the carpet, and to boot, they were just
wonderfully personable.  Nothing better than that for icing on a moving cake.  I
would recommend them highly.

I called them the friday before the move, and they said they'd get an estimator over to my house the following monday. The estimator was on time, and gave an accurate estimate. They estimated it would take 2 guy four hours to move my stuff. They estimated 326 for the move.
When it came time to move later that week, they actually sent three guys. However, the final amount was only ~20 more than the original estimate. Which I would consider more than acceptable.

The dining table and 8 chairs arrived in good condition. There was no damage. However, my son and I were dismayed to see that the rear right leg of the sideboard was severely damaged. Vertically, about half of the leg was torn off.  The man in charge of the delivery reported that the sideboard had arrived at their business location in New Jersey in that condition and that Vincent Fister, Inc was informed. The piece that was torn off had not arrived with the furniture. We made a phone call to Fister asking if they had the piece. They did not.  My daughter-in-law arranged for a furniture restorer (recommended by Stickley who now owns John Widdicomb Furniture - the maker of our dining room set) and the repair was made within the deductible amount. Thus, no claim was made. However, the bottom line is that a valuable piece of furniture has been damaged and is not in its original condition. I will not use this company again. Nor will I recommend them to anyone else - especially if the person has high value furniture they are planning to move.
Response from Vincent Fister Inc Moving & Storage

The move went well. There was an even amount of chatter among the workers, and with us. We learned some things about the moving business that, I believe, the general public doesn't know. The men checked with us at various stages throughout the move about what we wanted boxed, and what we were packing ourselves. They were completely professional and courteous throughout the entire process. Upon arrival at the new location in Florida (only two men arrived at the new location), they immediately went to work, assessing what had to go where, and laying out protective runners so that the carpeting wouldn't get soiled. Most of the items in boxes went in the garage, while all the furniture and the wardrobe boxes went in different rooms in the house. The men did not break for lunch, insisting on completing the job asap as they had a long drive ahead of them back to Kentucky. They arrived at the new location at 8am on the day they said they would be there (just four days after leaving Kentucky) and finished unloading everything, including reassembling whatever had to be reassembled, by app, 2pm. We bought them lunch (large sandwiches and sodas) which they took with them when the left. We gave the company a "C" rating on price only because we never dealt with a nationwide moving company before, and we didn't know what was considered a good price for our move. Lack of price comparison aside, the price that was quoted, and which we paid, was less than what we had anticipated. One of the men showed me the inventory sheets that he was filling out when the truck was being loaded, and gave me the opportunity to check each item as it was unloaded from the truck. We knew which items came from the apartment, and it was clear to us that everything was there and nothing was damaged. Regarding the items from the storage unit (which were moved and stored there by a different moving company), I didn't see any point to checking the list for "a box" that was removed from the storage. As for the furniture in the storage, we could easily recognize that none of the furniture appeared to be damaged, and that all our funiture arrived at the new location. As of today, 5/17/11, everything has been unpacked.  The only damages we found appeared to have been as a result of the initial move from New Jersey to Kentucky, since the items came from boxes that were packed by the movers who moved us from NJ to KY.  It appeared that anything that was packed by Fister was in good condition and not damaged in any way.
