"They promptly returned my call. They had a fair price, anddid an excellent job with the trees. They cleaned the area, grinded the stumps and hauled away the trees and debris. The were respectful of our property and got all this done in 2 days. They did everything I asked and they were very thorough. I’d definitely hire them again if I ever need more any tree work."

"Islas Tree Service / Home Improvements helped me with a tree and stump removal and with a house remodel (bathroom, flooring, windows). Genaro and team were professional, produced high quality work, good with timelines, easy to work with, and kept the areas clean. They were also reasonably priced. I'd recommend them for exterior and interior projects!"

"Hank gave us a very reasonable estimate. He took down the trees expertly. Then he wreaked our yard dragging the large logs through the wet grass. He did a wonderful job grinding the stump, but he never removed most of the felled trees. Some he threw off into the edge of our woods, some he simply left. What we saved in Hank's reasonable cost we lost in having to pay to have our yard repaired. We were disappointed in part because he seems to be a genuinely friendly and knowledgable person."

"I am extremely pleased with their work. Jacob is highly skilled and is very particular about his work. I had a tree next to a power line that was very difficult to remove safely but he did so without my having the power turned off. The best part of the job, however, was the extremely reasonable cost. I had a total of eight trees removed which would have cost at least twice as much, if not more, with other tree services. I can highly recommend J and R tree service."

"Lawnfather did an excellent job all around. They've been here twice and the results both times were exactly what I asked for. My yard and multiple flowerbeds went from overgrown and overlooked to clean, neat, fresh and well tended. Highly recommend."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Steer clear of the area and contact your utility company immediately. It will have a website portal and/or a phone number to report downed trees and electrical issues. If the tree appears to be on public land, you may want to call your local government and report the issue there, too.

While there is a lot of debate about whether boiling water is strong enough to kill tree roots, it is not best to remove the roots from large, old trees. You may be able to weaken young roots enough to remove them manually, but boiling water will likely not do the trick for large root systems.

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

Service costs depend on several factors, including the system's age, type, and size, as well as the complexity of the repair. Labor costs and whether replacement parts are necessary also play a significant role.

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.
