"Kara and Kevin did a great job. They arrived on time and laid out a plan in advance of completion. Each day, our home was left in very good order. They painted my kitchen cabinets and they are just beautiful. They also brought suggestions that we had not thought about. Great experience, beautifully painted interior."

"It went unbelievably well, and thanks, Skip and Robin! Because of the extensive damage the prior tenants inflicted - I can't come up with a better word - on the walls, doors, trim, ... everywhere! All 1400 square feet of this house needed to be repaired and painted. The job started promptly, was finished promptly, and Skip and Robin have a lot of expertise and are super easy to work with. The final job looked wonderful - so good in fact, that my realtor asked me who did the painting! Not only would I use them again, I have already done so."

"I requested an appointment with J&S Painting to get an estimate for the interior walls of my home. From the start it was exceptional service! They were on time, friendly, knowledgeable and gave me the estimate right up front on the first visit! I had a couple estimates from other companies, but they did not compare to the customer service (or price) provided by J&S! I chose them to complete the whole interior of my home. The painters were punctual each day and friendly. They did a great job painting the home and even finished a day and a half earlier than what they anticipated! Will definitely use them in the future for other painting jobs and would highly recommend them!"

"Shahriyar did an absolutely amazing job painting the interior of our house. This is honestly the best painting work I?ve ever had done. He was very professional, detail-oriented, and took his time to make sure everything looked perfect. The lines are clean, the finish is smooth, and the whole house looks brand new. He was also very respectful, showed up on time, and kept everything clean throughout the process. You can really tell he cares about the quality of his work. I highly recommend Shahriyar to anyone looking for a reliable and skilled painter. You won?t be disappointed!"

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to remove window decals is to soak the area in hot, soapy water. Let it sit for 15 minutes before scraping it with a plastic scraper or the edge of a credit card. You can also remove window decals with white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, or applying heat from a hairdryer or steam cleaner.

Yes, you can paint over old exterior paint, but success depends on the condition of the existing paint and proper surface preparation. If the previous coating is in good shape (not cracked, peeling, or flaky), you can paint over it with less prep work. However, for the most durable and professional-looking results, follow these key preparation steps:

  • Clean the Surface: Thoroughly clean the exterior to remove all dirt, grime, and mildew. A pressure washer can be very effective for this.

  • Scrape and Sand: If the old paint is peeling, cracked, or flaky, you must scrape off all loose paint. After scraping, sand the surface to create a smooth, even base for the new paint. Sanding is especially important for wood siding.

  • Apply Primer: Using a quality exterior primer is highly recommended. It ensures the new paint adheres properly, improves durability, and provides a uniform finish. If you are painting a lighter color over a dark one, a tinted primer will help cover the old color more effectively.

Some brands offer paint-and-primer-in-one products for convenience. Taking the time to prepare the surface properly will not only increase your home's curb appeal but also help protect your siding and extend its life.

Technically, mineral spirits are a type of paint thinner, so they can be used for the same purposes. In most cases, pure mineral spirits are preferable to other paint thinners. Still, if necessary, you can successfully use paint thinners for most of the same applications, such as thinning or cleaning oil paints.

Removing paint from brick can have both aesthetic and practical value. Some people prefer the timeless look of bare brick, making it worthwhile to remove old paint layers. Brick also lasts longer when unpainted, as paint traps moisture, causing the brick to deteriorate more quickly. If your brick walls are already in bad shape, stripping the paint off might do more harm than good.

Yes, vinegar can remove polyurethane from wood, but it is a slow, inefficient, and inconsistent restoration method. Whatever your intention, it’s best to avoid using vinegar on wood with a polyurethane finish—though it can be an effective cleaner for other wood finishes.
