We have two decades experience in interior/exterior remodeling at ProFinish Renovations. My name is Ross Parker and I am the owner and lead of all residential projects. I entered the construction field when I was just 17 years old and fell in love with it. When I started out, I was simply a painter for my father, this trade eventually turned into a lead role with our family-owned business. After a few years of painting, I became curious about other trades and decided to part ways from my father’s business and create my own path. Over the past 20 years, I have expanded my knowledge in all aspects of remodeling on interior/exterior spaces. While I do not build new construction homes, I have mastered nearly every trade that can make any space look new! I take great pride in the work we do and treat all jobs the same, big or small. I also take great pride in customer satisfaction and I work diligently to ensure a solid and beautiful end result. We will not leave your job unattended with contractors to do the work you hired me to do. I will be present on the job from start to finish to ensure we both have the results all customers desire!

"ProFinish Renovations did an outstanding, professional and fast interior painting of our rooms and bathrooms so we could start moving into our new home. The interior painting started on Mon. Aug 28th and was completed on Aug. 29th, looks great at a very reasonable price and highly recommend without any reservations. We plan to hire ProFinish Renovations for several home improvement projects in the near future. Great job!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpets in earthy, neutral shades should go with everything. Specifically, colors like beige, cream, and gray pair well with other neutrals and more vibrant colors. If you’re concerned about your carpet clashing with your walls or furniture, stay away from loud colors and complicated patterns, which could distract from the rest of your decor.

While it may not always be ideal, you can fix a squeaky floorboard without removing the carpet. Pros use specialized carpet screws and drive them through the carpet into the subfloor, securing floorboards. They may also use nails instead of screws if they suspect the pile will get caught in the screw. While some types of carpet will hide the screws and nails, a low-pile carpet may not.

Berber is the most expensive type of carpet, followed by textured carpet. Berber costs $3 to $20 per square foot, and textured carpet ranges from $1 to $12 per square foot. Berber features fibers arranged in short, thick loops, making it extraordinarily durable. The most expensive carpet material is wool, followed by acrylic, Triexta, and cotton. Wool costs $4 to $20 per square foot and is a beautiful, luxurious, and durable material. Acrylic, Triexta, and cotton range from $2 to $8 per square foot.

It depends on the kind you choose, but some types of carpet padding can last for decades. For instance, flat rubber—which is dense, durable, and higher-priced than other padding materials—has a life span of up to 20 years. On the other hand, prime foam—a lower-priced material that often comes free with a carpet installation—lasts less than five years on average.

Plywood is the best type of subfloor for a mobile home, though if you’re installing flooring in a bathroom, you may want to install a vapor barrier or use a moisture-proof subfloor material like Amdry. OBS is similar, but it can swell when moisture is present.

Either way, old mobile home subflooring made from particleboard can cause issues with your joints. If you’re replacing your subfloor, it’s best to upgrade to plywood.
