"My experience with Jorge and his team was excellent from the first encounter. Jorge reviewed my highly detailed requirement lists and the architect drawings. He took the initiative to meet with the architect to clarify questions; managed all permitting needs; was extraordinarily attentive to the work of his team and all the subcontractors. He consulted with us when there were options to consider and provided a balanced assessment and recommendations. We have had experiences with 4 different general contractors over the past 15 years and found George's Construction to be the best experience with best pricing in this complex project of building a multi-function garage and entertainment space."

I grew up on a farm. I went to college. I have been a successful business owner for 6 years. Before starting my Contracting business I was a superintendent for a large glass company. I specialize in door and window installation/ replacement, bathroom remodeling, basement finishing, and demo/abatement work. Certified for Lead Abatement and swinging stage platform work. Have experience in project oversight, consulting, and good old labor. I enjoy design and engineering challenges, custom built and artistic projects but give the same attention to detail on the plain design jobs. I am probably too honest to get rich doing contract work, but i think that is something to be proud of. Im hardworking and resourceful making me a 1st choice for your next project.. I do consultation and oversight of many types of Contracting and construction jobs. My insight and experience across the board make me a valuable asset to customers who want the most for the money.

"Jose & his team did an excellent job and performed a wide array of work for our home. They were one of the best priced, clean, efficient, happy and saw the work through to completion . I am a stickler for details and they executed on everything I asked. To give a scope of work: Jose's team removed 18 year old wall paper on a 4400 square foot house (85% of the walls had paper), removed 2 roman columns, added cased openings to 3 arched openings, added custom trim to the master bathroom, performed some minor travertine tile work, painted the entire interior, painted multiple exterior requests (front of house, columns, front door, garage door) and they also helped build a TV niche with me. Our other contractor who was doing the hardwood floor and cabinets liked his work so much, he picked him up for their work as well. Long story short, great job to Jose & JS Painting. I highly recommend."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Begin by analyzing the blueprints and gathering the proper materials before framing a house. With the prep stages behind you, begin by framing the floor of a house on the newly set foundation. Exterior and interior walls come next, along with rough openings for doors and windows. Contractors will then add ceiling and roof rafters to finish things off.

It's possible to turn your carport into a living space, but there are additional factors to address over turning it into a garage. HVAC, plumbing, and electricity won't be optional, and you'll need finished flooring, drywall, trim work, and legal ceiling height, for starters. Also, keep in mind that living space conversions may require upgrading the foundation underneath, and the permits might be more expensive as well.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

While it is possible to build a wooden carport yourself, especially if you are skilled in carpentry, professional construction is recommended. Professionals ensure structural integrity, proper anchoring, correct alignment, and the use of quality materials for a stable and durable result.

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.
