"Koop Painting did a fantastic job from start to finish. They came when they said and did all of the little extras that they promised. The interior of our house looks great. Problems were fixed like new. Amazing people to work with. We highly recommend them."

"They did a wonderful job. Very professional and completed the job in a timely manner. Did great job with the prep work getting our home ready prior to them started the painting. Appreciated the assistant from Kenjax with guidance to help us pick out the colors to get the results we wanted. They also did a complete walk around after the project to make sure to address any concerns we had. I would highly recommend this company."

"CertaPro did a great job painting our home last summer. We hired them again this summer to power wash our deck and patio and stain our outside cedar pillers. We also had them paint our laundry room and pantry. They did an outstanding job . We appreciate the care they take to do the work exactly as we requested and always clean up well. They communicate well if we need to change dates or arrival times. We highly recommend this company and their great workers!"

Small jobs welcome

"My fence is beautiful. Connor Dempsey went above and beyond to insure that the fence is what my pups and I needed. Connor also repaired the door for my breaker box, fixed the front faucet for my hose and put in my mailbox post. Connor will be returning to install a vent hood for my stove and fix a few stuck doors in a few weeks. Then, next year, I will hire him again to extend the back steps and build a back porch for my new home. Excellent work."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The best exterior paint for the job of painting your front porch depends on the material you’ll be painting. Acrylic paint is often recommended for a wooden porch as it’s durable and easy to apply. If your porch is made of concrete, you’ll need to find a formula suited to that material.

You don't need to seal your deck after painting it because most exterior paints are waterproof and weather-resistant. While stealing is not necessary, it can add an additional layer of protection.

Liquid rubber is great for waterproofing, but it can damage your deck if it’s not applied correctly. First, it can trap moisture in the wood if the deck isn’t completely dry before application.  Second, applying it too thickly can create a heavy, rubbery surface layer that peels and cracks under fluctuating temperatures. For the best results, ensure the wood is completely dry before application, and apply the liquid rubber in thin, even coats. A quick inspection every now and then will help you catch any issues early, keeping your deck protected and looking its best.

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

Hangers are one way of attaching stair stringers to a deck. These metal hangers are usually adjustable, allowing you to find the ideal angle for a secure installation. They’re the best choice for installing longer staircases, such as one on a two-story deck, to reduce the load on the deck frame while keeping the stairs stable.
