"I never contacted the provider or used this service in anyway. I have to
write this review so that the request to write this review stops
popping up.
The rating is bogus as it is required to be able to submit.

"Had about 5 contractors give me a quote. New star was the only one that seemed like they’d be reliable and knew what they were doing. Their quoted price was in the middle lower half of quotes I received. They did an amazing job and in a timely manner. Definitely would recommend."

"I recently had an amazing experience working with Gene. He was prompt, skilled, and went above and beyond. His pricing was fair and transparent. No surprises or hidden fees. He was upfront about the costs and gave me an accurate estimate before starting the job. It’s refreshing to work with someone who values honesty and integrity. Overall, Great communication, fair pricing, and exceptional work. Highly recommended!"

"Service an products were both outstanding.   Matt addressed issues that other contractors did not see or address in their bids.  Questions were immediately addressed.  Matt was outstanding with the design and color coordination.  The crew was fast, clean, and professional.  Excellent customer service and satisfaction.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Enhances property value, ensures safety, and provides a sound basis for future construction.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

Balcony construction or replacement typically requires a building permit from your local permitting authority. Safety and building integrity are the main reasons for the need to obtain a permit and the subsequent inspections. In some cases, especially cantilevered balconies, your municipality may also require the oversight and signature of a structural engineer.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.
