"I have a very complex roof with many ridges and the new shingles and treatment of ridges far exceeds previous roofing I had done. The roof looks beautiful with no metal ridges and looks well installed I wanted an unusual color and the owner was quick to give me two excellent examples. The color was much better than original roo, better matching the brick Rarely does a company want to deliver before the original date planned. But my job got done three week early! It caused me to reschedule my life a bit, but was happy to get it done! Thank you for a roof that adds value to my house in appearance and quality."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Many insurance policies will not cover a roof with two layers of shingles. An additional layer of shingles increases the risk of various kinds of damage, and insurers typically won’t pay claims on a roof with an overlay. Adding a layer of shingles may even jeopardize your insurance coverage entirely, so check your policy to ensure you stay within coverage guidelines.

No, cool roofs are not suitable for all climates. Cool roofs are very good at reflecting solar heat, so they’re suitable for homes in warm or hot climates. However, they’re not good at retaining heat, so they’re not suitable for homes in cold climates.

You should avoid choosing a metal roof if your home has a weak structural support system, as metal roofs can be heavier than roofs made of other materials. If you're in a region prone to frequent hailstorms or high winds, you also need to be aware that denting may occur.

Yes, hail damage to your roof can definitely cause water leaks in your roof. This is because hailstones can break, chip, crack, or split shingles of all types, exposing underlayment. This underlayment doesn’t offer as much protection against water, so when it becomes compromised, water can penetrate and leak deeper into your home.

Unfortunately, there’s no definitive answer to this question, but the wind rating of your shingles will give you a good idea of what wind speeds can damage your roof. If you’re concerned about damage, inspect your roof following windy conditions to look for signs of wind damage to your shingles. When in doubt, consider hiring a professional who fixes roofs to carry out an expert inspection. Remember that hurricanes, tropical storms, and tornadoes are likely to cause the most damage, but even severe thunderstorms can bring winds that compromise your roofing system.
