"We are buying a home and the inspector found mold. I called SafeGuard and they came the next day and looked for all the mold present, tested it to determine the type and cause of mold and gave us an estimate to completely remediate it. We hope that the seller will use SafeGuard to remediate because they really know what they are doing!"

"They were very prompt in coming out to do inspection for termites. The technician did find live termites and showed them to me. I received an estimate and thorough explanation of what would be done. They weren't the most or least expensive of the 3 estimates I received, but in my opinion he was the most knowledgeable, experienced, and courteous. I would definitely hire again, but hope I don't have to!"

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Not necessarily. If the mold is only on the surface or in small areas, you may be able to clean it effectively without removing all the caulk. However, if the mold has deeply penetrated the caulk or the caulk is damaged or deteriorating, you should remove the caulk completely and replace it to ensure thorough mold removal and prevent future growth.

Yes, if there is mold in your drywall mud and you then use it to build walls in your house—or if mold develops in your set drywall, like it can in hot and humid areas—it can lead to illness. Mold in your drywall (or other parts of your home) can make existing respiratory conditions or allergies worse, and the effect can be more intense for those who have existing health issues or compromised immune systems.

Water damage occurs when your property or items suffer damage due to excess and unwanted water or moisture. The water could be present due to a natural disaster such as a hurricane or a burst pipe—water damage can be caused by many things. If necessary, contact a local water damage restoration company.

Just because you find mold in your home does not mean you need to pursue professional remediation services. You can often clean small amounts of surface mold, such as in bathrooms or on windowsills, using household products. However, extensive mold growth, persistent odors, or mold caused by water damage require professional remediation. A good rule of thumb is to hire a pro when the mold is in an area larger than 10 square feet, poses health risks, or affects the structural integrity of your home.

Yes, both mold and mildew can grow under outdoor rugs if they are exposed to water or humidity for a prolonged period of time. This is why frequently cleaning an outdoor rug and checking its state is important.
