"One of the best contractors I’ve worked with! My project was replacing wrought iron posts on my front door overhang with cedar posts. They came out to give me an estimate, talked through how they would complete the project, answered all of my questions, and was able to come out a few days after to complete the project. Communication was great and they cleaned up well after the project. They gave me a fair bid for the project. I definitely recommend working with Greers Fencing! Super nice, fair guys!"

"Very nice guys. Did a really good job. Didnâ t gouge me on the price. Replaced a couple of pieces of siding and trim and hung shutters for me. I already recommended them to a friend for some similar work. Fairly prompt. Did an exceptional job of cleaning up after the job, I have not found any loose nails or scraps in the drive or bushes. I would highly recommend these guys and will use them again if I ever need to."

"Tyler and Tristsn were great!. They did a beautiful job on my deck -- it had mildew and was petty dirty. They power washed it and treated it and it looks so much better!. It was soaking up water whenever it rained and now it just beads up. My fence guys never showed up (angi got the booking messed up) so I asked Tyler and Tristan to put it up. Not only did they do that just the way I wanted it, but they figured out a brilliant way to block the gap in the bottom of an existing fence so the gate still opens but my little dog can't escape. They also reinforced and painted a part of the old fence that was falling apart. They worked around my schedule and are just a great team together. I would definitely hire them again!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

A metal fence can last for over 30 years if maintained correctly, though the exact lifespan varies by material. For instance, chain-link and aluminum fences can function well for 25 to 30 years, while corrugated metal fences may last up to 60 years with regular maintenance. The lifespan can be shortened by harsh weather, abuse, or lower-quality materials. Galvanized metal tends to last longer due to its protective barrier, whereas sheet and corrugated metal may rust faster than solid pieces.

The depth of the fence posts depends on the height of your fence. If you’re installing a 6-foot fence, then digging 2-foot-deep holes for the fence posts will help ensure a secure installation. However, if you’re installing an 8-foot fence, the posts will need to be deeper than 2 feet to support the structure properly. Also, consider how far apart the fence posts should be to provide adequate support.

There are several options for post materials. Depending on where you live, the weather, and what kind of durability you want, you can choose from wood, steel or concrete posts for a barbed wire fence. Your corner and end posts should be especially strong in order to maintain the structural integrity of the fence.

Maintain your wattle fence by inspecting it at least twice per year for loose weaving and degrading branches. Replace any seriously degraded sections, ensure water drains properly around the posts, and trim any sprouting branches if you used green wood. If you notice the weave loosening, you can often tighten it by gently pushing down on the top branches. You can also apply a natural wood preservative every two to three years to extend the fence's lifespan.

Who pays for a new fence between neighbors depends on its location relative to the property line. If you build the fence entirely on your property, you are solely responsible for the costs of installation, maintenance, and repair. If the fence is built directly on the property line, both neighbors are typically responsible for the costs. In this case, it is essential to consult with your neighbor beforehand to agree on a plan for payment. While you should always inform your neighbor of your plans in advance, you generally cannot force them to contribute financially unless there are specific local laws, such as in California, where both parties might be responsible for costs unless a different agreement exists. It's a good idea to get a property line survey to know the exact boundaries before building.
