"We are very pleased with Jay and his crew. Jay answered our request for a quote very quickly. Jay gave us more than one way to fix our worn old rotten fence. After discussing the options prices very reasonable by the way we decided to put in a new fence and get a new iron gate and iron fencing by the front of our house as well. We got on his schedule and they are busy. It was worth the wait for sure.Jay sent us pix of past jobs and we waited our turn and then they came out and in one day took down old fence and put up new one. They were friendly, respectful, nice and answered any questions we had, they cleaned up after themselves as well. If we ever need more fencing we will use Stephen’s fencing for sure. Thank You Jay and crew for all you did for us. 😁😁"

"Owner Adib Michael and his crew gave us more than our money’s worth on the roofing job he did for us. First of all in the middle of the process he enthusiastically agreed to open the roof and blow insulation in at a more than economical price. His crew was very hard working and pleasant to a man while working in nearly 100 degree heat. His crew chief Hector and the crew showed complete competence on the job. And Adib insisted on doing the job according to code when I, the owner, was thinking of cutting corners. Impressive! Romani also did some concrete work for me and was very attentive to the details to maintain proper water drainage. Adib listens. I would hire Romani for any job he says he’ll do."

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

One common approach to attaching lattice is using screws or nails. Align the lattice panel with the wood frame, then secure it by driving screws or nails through the lattice into the wood. Another option is using U-shaped or J-shaped clips or brackets designed for lattice attachment, which provide a neater look. For added stability and aesthetics, you can use molding or framing around the lattice edges, attaching it to the wood with screws or nails—lastly, construction adhesive works when combined with other fasteners for enhanced durability.

Posts for a horizontal fence should be no more than 6 feet apart. Wood pickets are not as strong when mounted horizontally as when mounted vertically. As such, the fence panels on a horizontal fence can’t cover the same span between posts as a vertical fence can. If you install the posts further apart on a horizontal fence, the fence will lose stability, making the boards more likely to sag.

The distance between fence posts is guided by the terrain you’re installing them on, the purpose of the fence, and the material it’s made of. For the average wooden garden fence, posts should be about 6 to 8 inches apart. But if you’re going with a mesh, wire, lattice, or chain link fence, you could set the fence posts anywhere from 6 to 25 feet apart.

The distance between fence posts depends on the type of fence you’re installing. Wood and metal fence posts should be between 5 feet and 8 feet apart. Chain-link fence posts can be closer together at 4 feet apart, or the spacing can be up to 10 feet apart. Vinyl fence posts can be between 6 feet and 8 feet apart, and wire fence posts can be up to 12 feet apart.

While wood fencing is versatile and durable, there are other fence material options to consider. Check out our comprehensive list of the Best Types of Fences for Your Home to browse through some other fencing materials. Popular types include metal fencing, such as aluminum and chain link, and wood alternatives, such as vinyl or composite fencing.
