I am a graphic designer and create all kinds of things like business logos, shirts and other apparel, koozies, signs, stickers and vinyl decals for inside walls, outside signs or car windows, etc. You tell me what you want and I will make it happen. I also specialize in custom painted signs and furniture, as well as home decor. Ask me about custom painted counter tops and cabinets. See pictures of some of my most recent work at https://www.facebook.com/groups/WandasCustomDesigns/ For legal purposes, all of my custom work is copyrighted by Wanda Hendrick DBA Wanda's Custom Designs and is not available for resale. I will not recreate anything without expressed written permission from the copyright. I can, however, use your pictures/ideas to create something custom for you and make it my own. It will not be an exact replica of someone else's work, but will be personalized just for you.

Furniture Refinishing questions, answered by experts

Avoid using wood filler for structural repairs or areas with extensive damage. Wood filler is designed for cosmetic fixes like filling small holes, cracks, or surface imperfections, and it doesn't provide the strength needed for load-bearing repairs or large gaps. You also shouldn’t use wood filler in areas exposed to heavy moisture or extreme outdoor conditions unless it’s a product specifically rated for such environments. Wood replacement or a strong epoxy resin is a better solution for severe rot or structural damage.

The best way to help a family member or friend declutter their home is to hire a professional organizer or cleaner to do it for them. However, you can also help them make a plan to tackle the clutter. Sit down with them and sort through the items, making piles of what to keep, toss, and donate. Focus on one area at a time to avoid overwhelming them. If they have trouble letting go of some items, ask them when they last used each item, what its purpose is, and whether it has sentimental value. The answers to these questions can help you advise them on handling clutter.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

To treat sun-damaged furniture, clean the surface thoroughly to remove dirt and debris. Next, assess the damage: Consider refinishing or applying a protective sealant for faded finishes. Apply furniture oil or conditioner to restore moisture to cracked or dry wood. Remember, the best way to treat your furniture is to prevent damage in the first place. Regular maintenance and preventive measures will keep your furniture looking its best. Lastly, it may be best to consult a professional furniture restorer or refinisher for expert repairs and restoration in severe cases.

Refinishing reduces landfill waste, minimizes resource extraction impacts, and uses fewer raw materials than new installations.
