"They were able to replace the skylight in less than 2 weeks after the quote. They did a good job and make the finish on the inside look good. A few weeks later, there was a heavy rain and my new skylight is no longer leaking like my old one that was replaced."

"I needed drywall repair from a leaking shower that first was repaired. I wanted it done immediately so that I could put the house on the market. Patrick came within the hour of the call and gave me a loww He said they would repair it the next day. There was no down payment and the quote was very reasonable. Sure enough, the very next morning, they were there and worked hard to get the project done. Patrick is vey honest and pleasant to work with and I would highly recommend hime to anyone.l"

"Owner Matt McQuiston was friendly and thorough in preparing our quote, and kept in touch throughout the project. His crew went about their tasks with quiet good humor and attention to detail. I would hire them again. He deals in fiberglass windows and doors, and they appear to be excellent products."

"The workers that Dave sent were very friendly and considerate. When they unwrapped the old wood on the columns, they found that there were no posts inside. They had to go and get 6x6 posts and install those. Then they replaced the old wood with pvc materials (my choice) and added trim to the top and bottom of the columns. Then they painted them and they look exactly as I had envisioned - so pretty! They also installed a wrought iron handrail that I had ordered for the steps ."

"A Hail storm hit our home in April. R& M was in the neighborhood. They came to my door and asked if  everything was okay?
I heard the hail hitting but I was not sure if there was anything wrong. They asked me if it was okay if they could look to be sure everything was okay before they left? I said okay and I sure am glad they did. My skylight was busted and water had been leaking in my bathroom. They put a tarp over my skylight so no further damage would be done. They gave me their business card and told me if I would like them to they would meet with the adjuster to point out the damage. I was so grateful that I had them to help me since my husband was out of town.
They met with the adjuster  and handled everything for me.
They replaced my roof and gutters and cleaned up the mess.
I was well pleased with the service

Skylights questions, answered by experts

A skylight's ability to withstand hail depends on factors like material quality and thickness. Impact-resistant options, such as tempered or laminated glass, fare better against hail compared to standard glass. Proper installation and regular maintenance also contribute to their resilience. While smaller hailstones may not pose a significant threat, larger ones can cause damage. Consider skylight protection methods like covers or screens in hail-prone areas to enhance durability and minimize potential harm.

Common skylight issues include leaks, condensation between glass panes, damaged seals, and cracks in the glazing. Regular exposure to weather elements can lead to these problems, requiring timely attention to preserve the integrity of the skylight and the surrounding roof structure.

When planning out skylights and deciding how big they should be, it's important to look at the dimensions of the interior space. In addition to changing a room aesthetically, skylights influence the illumination and temperature of the space below. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that a skylight’s size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows.

Yes, you can install skylights on an existing roof, and it’s a common service that many homeowners opt for, especially on older homes built when skylights weren’t as prevalent. The installation process will be a bit more involved, and the design and planning process will take longer, meaning you’ll pay more to install a skylight on an existing roof than you would in new construction. The process involves cutting a hole in the roof, moving rafters, if necessary, and installing and sealing around the skylight.

The decision to remove a skylight depends on your specific circumstances and preferences. There are several reasons why you might consider removing a skylight, such as extensive damage, a desire for better insulation, or the need to change the room's layout. Additionally, if the skylight is causing leaks or other issues, it may be necessary to remove and replace it (which can incur additional skylight installation costs). It's important to assess your specific situation and consult with professionals if needed to make an informed decision.
