"Had an old double main kitchen sink that was leaking and one side couldn't be used. Chance installed a new sink of our choice so now we can use the entire sink. He fixed the drain line to ensure the leaking stopped and sealed the edges of the sink to the countertop. We continue to be happy with his work after he previously installed a toilet and water heater for us."

At PG Plumbing we have a simple yet powerful reason for starting our plumbing company: to bring a breath of fresh air to the plumbing industry in Fort Wayne and Allen County.\n\nWith the rise of large corporate plumbing conglomerates, we noticed the disappearance of the small, locally-owned plumbing businesses that once thrived in our community. This inspired us to step in and make a difference.\n\nOur mission is clear: we are here to provide our customers with cost-effective, personal experiences rather than prioritizing profit margins. We understand the frustration that often comes with plumbing issues, and our goal is to alleviate that stress with a service you can trust.\n\nWe invite you to choose PG Plumbing a local, employee-owned, reliable, and trustworthy team, for all your plumbing needs. Toilets questions, answered by experts

The normal water level in a toilet bowl is about halfway full. The water should sit above the P trap drain because this creates a seal and suction. When you flush the toilet, the suction keeps sewer gases from entering your house through your toilet. Anytime the water level is higher or lower than half full, you need to make adjustments or replace broken parts.

Toilet handles can get stuck for a couple of reasons, but it’s commonly an issue with the chain. Remove the lid and check the chain’s connection, running from the flapper to the handle arm. Sometimes the chain gets snagged on or against another part of the tank.

The chain might not have the right tension. For example, a chain that’s too short can make the handle feel stuck. Check that there’s some slack in the chain. Old, worn-out flappers can get stuck, too. In this case, you’ll need to see which size toilet flapper you need.

Yes, you’ll need to replace your toilet’s wax seal any time you move the toilet. This is because movement of the toilet will break the seal, rendering the remaining wax useless. Thankfully, replacing a wax seal is fairly easy, and the seal itself only costs $2 to $10 at most home improvement stores.

When replacing a wax seal you typically also have to replace the closet bolts that secure the toilet to the flange. These are usually about 2.5" - 3" long and have to be cut once the toilet is secure. Cutting them usually makes them too short to reuse.

A broken flange could lead to serious issues. When a flange breaks, the toilet is no longer secured to the subfloor, which leads to constant rocking when in use. Over time, this breaks the wax seal between the toilet and flange and causes leaking throughout the substrate, bathroom floor, and ceilings below the bathroom.

This rumbling noise after flushing may sound like a hammer or knocking inside the walls. When you flush, it opens a valve so additional water can come in. However, if the valve malfunctions, then this rush of water has nowhere to go, which makes all the excess water hit your pipes and create a loud hammering sound.
