"5/11 Case and Gabe arrived at 9:00 sharp and got straight to work. I had previously removed the old tub surround (vinyl covered Masonite) along with the window frame earlier, so their demo consisted of the plaster walls, plumbing and the old metal tub. What a dusty mess! Some of the blow-in insulation had fallen out of the wall cavities after the plaster was removed and I asked if they had any insulation on the truck to fill those gaps, to which they said: No. So I scrounged a fiberglass bat from the attic and they filled the areas that were left exposed. They had some challenges with my plumbing to overcome, and a challenge getting the tub into the opening, but they succeeded. They finally completed the job around 7:45. I signed off on it and they were on their way. Im very pleased with the quality of the materials (tub, surround panels, window kit and hardware). Although after a closer examination, I began to find aspects of this job that were not satisfactory: 1. One of the two tub water lines was routed on the outside of the framing cross member while the other was on the inside, where it belonged. The line outside prohibited me from putting the access panel back in place. 2. They forgot to clean the closet area where the access door was located, leaving scrap lumber, insulation and pex tubing on the floor. 3. They didnt cover the studs below the tub-line with plywood or even plastic sheeting, leaving the blow-in insulation exposed. Over time the insulation would fall from the cavities, allowing heat loss, condensation and then moisture damage. 4. The caulk job, upon closer inspection, appeared to be hurriedly done as there were spots missed (above the window) and other places that werent as clean and smooth as youd expect. 5. I did not receive owners manuals for the faucet, shower head, and tub spout/drain for future maintenance reference. I received nothing, just a warranty for the tub/vinyl surround and cleaning instructions for same. On 6/1 Tommy Stewart arrived to fix the water line issue and to caulk above the window. He also noticed that the tub spout wasnt pressed all the way up to the wall. He fixed that and caulked around it as well. I was impressed with his attention to detail and quick work of things."

"Overall, it went well. This project involved not only the sump pump drains, but also improvements to downspouts drainage and adding a drain to an area of our backyard where water runs off a hill. It involved removing rocks from a landscaped dry creek drainage area and placing a large drain pipe to handle the volume of water from both the sump pump and the hillside. When I advised them that the end of the drainage pipe at the street was not placed in the best location, the owner of the company came out and found a good solution and the staff corrected the problem very promptly. The owner assured me he would make sure we were completely satisfied with their work, and he made sure that happened.
Prior to the project beginning, the owner offered to meet with our next door neighbor to discuss what they would be doing, since the work was at the border of our yards and slightly impacted his yard..

"The crews were extraordinarily polite, friendly, efficient, and very energetic. They ran into a lot of underground water when digging the trench for the buckled wall repair, but were able to put in the necessary reinforcements from inside the basement extending out to the trenched area. We live in an area with a lot of underground springs and artesian water, and when they began work the dirt under the foundation and crawl space was just wet mud, and water poured in at 36 inches deep as they created an outlet for the water to be safely drained away from the house. The basement is completely dry and we have a back up sump pump. My basement is surrounded by a crawl space since it was added after the house was built. The sump pumps and dehumidifier are warrantied for 5 years and the waterproofing has a lifetime warranty. Our house had problems because the basement was added after the house was built, but Indiana Foundation was able to make the house safe, and completely dry and usable. Since we live on a hillside, we will be adding a French drain behind the house and garage, far enough away to not further damage any of the foundations, but at the natural flow of the hillside where water collects to run down hill or underground. If we go at least 36 inches deep, it should help reduce some of the water that flows into the house area. This was some advice given by the supervisor at Indiana Foundation. They don't install French drains any longer, as they don't carry away all water and don't carry a guarantee, but in our situation it will probably help and is something I will be contracting out in the near future. The French drain is similar to what farmers install in fields to drain away excess water to a creek or deep ditch. It isn't something we have to do, but it will put a lot less strain on the sump pumps and other equipment, and in case of a long term power outage, would likely save our other appliances too (furnace, water heater, walls, etc.). I love the battery back up pump and it has already been in use twice when we had two separate power outages from storms. The workmen from Indiana Foundation were delightful to have in my home, running in and out with loads of materials, cheerfully hammering the walls and floors to install their system. Second: My electrician was able to repair a line running to our garage after the water problem was resolved. Water poured in over the connections in the basement without our realizing it, and no electricity was live in the back room of the garage. New basement, New Electric, New Plumbing - we are very happy with the results!"
