Rene managed the entire project from the planning, management and delivery of the service with perfection! He was very easy to reach and kept everything on schedule! The quality of work from Feli on the tile work for the master and 2nd bathroom was perfectly done! The attention to detail was amazing by all! Luis was amazing fixing everything from our plumbing to electrical and any handyman work you need!!! Also, the team worked long hours and kept to the planned completion date and even finished ahead of schedule!! The entire team cares and worked so hard to deliver a beautiful remodeling of our house! "Lahr Tile is a family owned business who is very conscientious about doing high quality work. They completed a pretty large flooring project for me actually earlier than expected. They took time to keep the area clean which really impressed me. Customer service was excellent as everything went according to plan. If I could include a photo of our newly renovated basement, I definitely would. We are very happy and would definitely hire them AND recommend them to our family and friends."

"Excellent job! They not only did the whole flooring work at my house, they basically renovated the entire place by installing new trims and painting every wall in the living room, bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The difference between floor and wall tiles is that floor tiles generally have higher strength and porosity ratings than wall tiles. Wall tiles are typically weaker and more likely to crack or become damaged under sustained pressure like high foot traffic.

For this reason, avoid using wall tiles on floors and vice versa.

Porcelain tiles can last 60 years or longer. With high-quality tiles and proper installation, your porcelain tiles may even outlive you, making them well worth the initial investment.

To help your porcelain tiles last longer, you should clean and maintain them regularly. You don’t need any harsh chemicals to get the job done. Rather, use a cloth, hot water, and mild detergent. And don’t forget to learn how to clean floor tile grout, as that’s just as important as tile maintenance.

When tiling over concrete, you should install an anti-fracture membrane after the concrete has been prepared. The anti-fracture membrane acts as a moisture barrier and should be installed to protect the tiles from moisture which helps maintain their integrity. Often, Ditra, a brand name, is used interchangeably with moisture barrier.

When cleaning porcelain tiles, avoid products that contain ammonia, bleach, and other harsh chemicals. Acid-based cleansers can damage the tile, though you can clean them with a diluted mixture of one-quarter cup white vinegar mixed with one gallon of hot water. It is important always to use a soft-bristled brush or sponge, since hard bristles and steel wool can scratch the tile.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.
