Here's what went right :

• -  The wallpaper removal job went smoothly, and the workmen vacuumed and cleaned afterwards.

• -  One of the workmen carried away 2 bags of debris from the wallpaper job, after I mentioned that I had no easy way to dispose of them personally. This was much appreciated.

• Here's what went wrong :

• -  This provider twice cancelled scheduled appointments ? in both cases minutes before arrival time.

• • -  Rescheduling the first appointment was difficult, as the provider did not respond to my emails or phone calls. I eventually had to ask the Angie team to facilitate rescheduling.

  • -  Despite my repeated requests for changes to be communicated to me by phone (I do not have a smart phone which captures email, and it is not possible for me to constantly check personal email for possible messages because of work commitments), the owner refused to comply. The reason he gave is that Angie urges its providers to use email in order to preserve copies of communications -- which is understandable. However, given client preferences, it is always possible to call, then follow up with an email for the record. This awkward method of communication made the cancellations and rescheduling even more personally inconvenient.

  • -  Prior to painting, I covered some of the furniture with sheets, and left drop cloths to cover the rest after the pieces had been moved away from the walls; however, the cloths were not used and the top of a hutch now contains drops of white paint from when the ceiling was painted.

  • -  The painting job was sub-standard. There were 2 patches on the wall which were not fully covered and in which the underlying wall showed through. In addition, the painter did not remove a wall vent before painting, instead painting around and slightly over the edges of the vent. This resulted in small patches of paint peeling off when I removed the vent to clean it a week and a half after the job was completed. I had to repair all of these defects personally.

  • -  The owner indicated he would call me after the final work was completed to ensure everything was satisfactory. I did not hear from him.

"Steve and his employees did an immaculate job restoring the walls of the home I inherited from my grandparents. 80% of the house had wallpaper from 1981. Project was started and completed on time and perfectly. "Hector , Jose and Martha are extremely nice and they do a wonderful job. I had them paint my entire house, remove and install new flooring throughout the home, insulate my attic and install an attic ladder. Drywall my garage ceiling, clean out my crawlspace, install a ceramic tile shower, build a front deck and power wash my entire home. They also cleaned and revarnish my cabinets and all the woodwork in the home, including a beautiful front door that needed to be sanded and varnished. They can basically do everything. Everything came out very nice and if you had anything that you wanted changed or corrected, they took care of it right away. I am thankful that we have them as our home contractor. Would recommend them to everyone. No job too big or too small for them. It has been a pleasure working with them."

"The handyman came and did a neat and efficient job of removing the existing pedestal sink in the bathroom. He then made me aware of the fact the vanity I purchased to replace the pedestal sink was not in line with the plumbing and that the installation would require a plumber. MPO and I (via email) discussed the options and I decided to use my own plumber (there was a rather major event in the wall). The vanity was installed by the plumber, who did not replace baseboards. I contacted MPO to ask if the handyman could return and replace the baseboards. He did that today and he did it very well. And although the job was not what I planned it to be, I would use MPO again for these reasons: very responsive, dependable, clean and I was left with the overall impression that I could trust this company.
