Small jobs welcome

"listened to questions and ideas that i had, offered info on colors and took into consideration what effect i was trying to achieve and gave advice that was very helpful (i found choosing paint colors overwhelming - they were significant in narrowing down colors to achieve what i wanted, not just what they thought). they didn't make me feel rushed or pressured for decisions needed. they accommodated me in last minute changes for paint color, even in the morning before they were coming over to paint. i especially appreciated having the cracks, nail pops and other minor holes plastered and sanded prior to painting. that was a plus (as opposed to just painting over those types of imperfections). willingness to move furniture before and afterwards was an important thing to me. personable and professional (almost rare to have with any businesses now a days). overall not only good workers who took their time, but also did beautiful job. want to mention that not only did they take care of painting (ceiling, walls, doors, crown molding) but they put up 2 ceiling medallions (they had to take down 1 ceiling chandelier for one of the medallions and put up a new light fixture/chandelier for the 2nd medallion). look forward to having them do more painting and other jobs in the near future. found them comfortable to work with"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Look for flaking paint or air bubbles that burst and then flake away. Paint will begin to flake after being exposed to minimal moisture or water, so it’s a good indicator of any water damage. If you notice your paint starting to flake, feel the plaster underneath to see if it is soft or damp.

Plaster can be a difficult DIY to master, especially if you plan to plaster an entire room, rather than patch a small area. Before you begin a plaster DIY project, you need to know which tools and type of plaster to use. It's also important to know how to prepare the surface and apply the plaster for a smooth finish. If that all sounds like a lot of work, you may prefer hiring a local plaster repair contractor to do the job.

Small patches can be DIY, but professionals handle large-scale repairs with seamless results.

Yes, if there is mold in your drywall mud and you then use it to build walls in your house—or if mold develops in your set drywall, like it can in hot and humid areas—it can lead to illness. Mold in your drywall (or other parts of your home) can make existing respiratory conditions or allergies worse, and the effect can be more intense for those who have existing health issues or compromised immune systems.

There are several benefits to wet-sanding drywall, but the main perk is that it produces far less dust than dry-sanding. As a result, wet-sanding poses fewer health risks and makes less of a mess in your home. Plus, damp sponges are less abrasive than sandpaper, so there’s a smaller chance of scratching or damaging the drywall paper. Wet-sanding also creates a smoother finish than dry-sanding.
