"Had Melin out for an estimate on a Sunday. Ended up adding my garage door and deck to the estimate because i found their prices to be very reasonable. I hired them that day and they were able to complete the job within that same week. They even sent me text updates of the progress while I was at work. Very happy with the results. I would hire them again and have already recommended them to friends and family."

"They did a fantastic job, will be hiring them again. Would recommend them because they pay attention to details. Also not only did they paint what I needed painted but went above and beyond my expectations. The pricing is fair you get more for your money that why I said they went above and beyond my expectations. Most definitely will hire again"

"Esther Zehr replied within 3 hours from my posting asking for a painter. She was courteous and professional in our first meeting on the phone. She made me feel like I could rely on her to get the job done. I was a manager or Supervisor for forty years so I can read people well. She made me feel I could trust her. I described what I needed done and she submitted an estimate I thought was reasonable, so I made arrangements to get the job completed. I had 3 bedrooms and kitchen cabinets done. They sprayed two coats on the cabinets and did a combination of brushes, rollers and spray in the bedrooms. The bedrooms turned good and the kitchen was spectacular. I would highly recommend Esther and her crew to anyone"

Small jobs welcome

"The Under Pressure team were great! I got a very reasonable quote quickly for power washing my wood fence and deck. The job was scheduled promptly. Coby did the work. He was polite, professional and very thorough. The fence and deck look fantastic now. I couldn’t be happier."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.

Satin paint is generally considered a better choice for woodwork—including trim, baseboards, cabinets, and doors—than flatter finishes like eggshell or matte. Its soft sheen enhances architectural details and stands up well to frequent cleaning and daily wear. Compared to eggshell and matte finishes, satin is more durable for high-touch areas because it is less porous and doesn't absorb dirt as easily. Matte finishes, in particular, are prone to scuffs and are harder to clean, making them less practical for surfaces like doors and cabinets.

To make sure the paint won’t bubble as you apply it, make sure to paint on a day that’s cooler than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature is too high, the paint won’t dry evenly, which can result in bubbles forming on the surface. Another way to prevent paint from bubbling is to clean the walls, apply primer, and let everything dry completely before you begin.

The best way to protect a deck is to prevent damage from UV light, water, mold, mildew, insects, and abrasive cleaning methods. Sweep regularly to prevent debris that hides bugs and traps moisture that can result in mold or mildew growth. Use a deck cleaner once a year to remove algae, mold, and mildew. Avoid using pressure washers on high, as they can damage the wood. Applying a deck sealant can protect the wood from UV and water damage, and adding shade can also reduce sunlight damage.

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.
