The second day after they started painting, Devine and I got into an argument. He defended his crew saying they do good work, as if I were lying. When I showed him the runs, he backed off and said it would be corrected. As it turns out, the paint runs were due to painting latex paint over oil-based paint without being primed which is the reason I hired a so-called professional in the first place.I didn't think they could finish by the end of the second day but they brought in a third man to help finish. When they left and were paid the paint was still wet but looked ok...no runs. After the paint dried and I looked around more closely, I saw several places on the doors that were missed completely, some small, some as large as 6 by 8 in. squares. At first I thought I would touch them up myself since I had leftover paint. After a couple of weeks and finding more missed areas and inside of 2 closet doors (the closets were not painted), the two closet doors were not found sooner because one is a storage closet that is hardly opened and the other is a walk-in closet that is left open, the back side concealed. They both were the worst. The paint was smeared on as if a second coat would be applied. Both doors, the entire area showed through to the original coat. It was hideous. I called Devine and told him what I found. He offered his teenage son who was working for him as summer help, to come over and touch up. I said no to his teenage son. I waited weeks and received no follow-up calls from him. When I called him, I got no answer, left a message, no reply. Waited 3 weeks, called again, no answer. Left another message. Waited 3 more weeks, called again, no answer, left another message saying that if I didn't get a reply within 3 days, I would file a complaint with the BBB. I got a call back the next day and he scheduled someone to repaint the next day. He (Devine) gave a list of personal and professional problems for the reason he didn't answer my calls. He brought the painter to do the work, repaint completely, most of the doors that were painted. When I showed him the work they had done, he admitted that it was awful. He said they should have had extra lighting...no kidding! He was here off and on when they were painting, why didn't he notice, suggest, or insist they have extra lighting. I asked Devine if the paint would run on the second coat. He said no, assured me it would be ok. Then he left. After his painter had done a couple of doors, I checked them out. Sure enough, there were runs. I told and showed the painter the runs. So then as he painted, he would go back and check the doors he had already painted and brush out the runs. It took him 5 hours to repaint the doors and brush out the runs. He took no breaks and did a good job as far as I can tell. There are also small places on the walls that I have found that show through to the original coat (not enough paint on the roller, dry rolled). I noticed them when cleaning or looking at the walls at certain angles or lighting. I didn't mention them because I wanted to use a roller, not a brush that would show brush strokes. I didn't want them here again for what I can and will do myself. This ordeal was my worst nightmare, hiring someone who doesn't know or care what they are doing. I thought by hiring someone professional with 15 years experience, the job would be done right. No doubt about it, I could have done a better job myself for the cost of the paint and saved about $2,000. Not to mention the regret, lies, trouble and stress that I endured. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. They may do good work for someone, but it wasn't for me.

I agreed to have them do the work and told him I didn't want the job done until end of October. I received a call scheduling for the next week. I explained I didn't want it done until end of October. In October they called and scheduled. The shingles were delivered the day before they were to do the job. The morning of the roofers arrived early looking like they slept in their clothes and just rolled out of bed and first thing wanted to use my bathroom. They were contractors from northern IN. There were 3 of them, the 2 on roof and foreman on ground . They started right away and foreman told me the planking was all good. I noticed they didn't have any vents. He said he didn't know anything about them. I called the sales guy and he did drop 4 off at house so the roofers could install. They didn't finish that day and came back the next morning and worked until early afternoon. When finished I asked about the flashing around the chimney's He said he didn't know about it and that you couldn't put flashing around them. He called the salesperson and told him he couldn't do it. (and no flashing was delivered anyway) So I now had a nice black roof with ugly things stick up from it, peeling paint, etc. I called the salesmen and Project Manager for the job. It took I think over a month to hear back from him. I left many messages to contact me. Finally the PM came to the house and said he would send someone to clean them up and paint the chimneys. Someone did come to the house while I was at work and used a wire brush (I assume) and brushed off some of the paint and then painted them black. It looked better (not as noticeable) but you can see the paint ridges from the old paint and it really doesn't look all that great. In my limited knowledge the actual shingle part of the roof job was done well and I have had no problems. With the price and issues I had I will never use home depot installation services again unless the installation is being done by a local reputable company and they provide the Home Improvement bid The roofing experience left a bad impression. The salesperson is a Home Depot employee and is my opinion not knowledgeable about roofing and should have know what they could and could not do. Putting new pipe boots was never mentioned and I wish that had been done too as they leak when we have hard rain. Two day job. First day they called to say they would be an hour late. The 2 of them worked about an hour and a half then the head man had to run an errand. From there they all met for lunch (Devine and the two painters), a one hour lunch. When they left at the end of the day, I saw paint runs...
