Coffman & Sons, LLC is a family-owned residential & commercial roofing and snow removal company. Chris Coffman began his career nearly 20 years ago in new home construction. He founded Coffman and Sons over 10 years ago and focuses on roofing and snow removal services. He has a vast amount of construction experience and offers other services to his customer base. Chris has all the roofing credentials any home or business owner would require and has installed thousands of new roofs. Chris has 10 employers and is proud his business has steadily grown since establishment.

"From the beginning, owner Chris Coffman was intent on repairing my house the right way, not the easy way. In doing so, he improved--not just restored--my home. Chris's integrity and keen perception were evident as he surveyed all damage & instructed his workers in how to achieve his desired result. Every step of the way, he advised me what work would be done, when to expect the workers & the duration of each phase. I especially appreciated Chris's kind consideration of my costs & my time as he scheduled workers, & his suggestions to make necessary repairs less intrusive for me. All Chris's workers reflected his values, accomplishing their work in an effective & timely manner, while being careful to maintain & protect my property. I am very grateful for the wonderful work they did."

"Dale Urban of Expert made a lot of statements and promises that were not true. He informed us to do the repair he would need to jack up the house at least 3 times and it was $5000 each time. He wrote a contract for repairing 3 walls damaged by termites, then, as work began on the third wall, he informed us there were $10000 in overages we must pay immediately. I asked Dale to bring the contract and an itemized list of the overages. He never supplied an itemized list but he did bring the contract. When he presented me with his copy of the contract I noticed he had changed repairing 3 walls to repairing 2 walls. He literally wrote over the 3 with a 2. Arguing ensued and he threatened to leave the job undone so my 76 year old father paid him $10000 more. He was worried his house would remain unfinished and hiring a new contractor would cost even more money. After the job was competed I filed a complaint with the BBB and Indiana Attorney General. Turns out changing a contract and asking for more money is fraud under Indiana law. So I contacted Dale and insisted he return the money or I'd press charges. He did not. Instead he offers to do more work provide I paid for all the materials. We came to an agreement for 4 jobs and set firm deadlines for each. Dale did not meet a single deadline. Further, during the repair his contractor insisted that in order for the repair to be done correctly, a section of the roof needed to be torn off. Once the repair was done, his contractor asked for an additional $4200 which my father paid. I've contacted Dale and he refuses to return any money. Please know that Dale Urban and Expert does not do any construction work what so ever. All Dale does is keep a rolodex of names which he calls when he acquires a job. He pays these individuals a pittance of the amount he collects from the home owners. As a result, you never know who's going to show up to do the job. Dale brought over 4 or 5 different brick layers before he found one to do the brick work on the house. We will never again use Dale Urban and Expert. He is a liar and is manipulative, willing to say anything to get you to sign a contract. We will also be taking him to court to get our money back. Stay away from Expert and Dale Urban"

Typical roofing repairs cost between $380 and $1,800 on average. However, most homeowners spend approximately $1,100 on a roofing repair project. The size of the roof, the extent of the damage, and the type of project all impact the final cost. External factors like product availability and supply chain issues may also affect the price.

Projects like repairing damaged gutters will only be around $180 to $560, whereas repairing a sagging roof will be a higher expense at $1,500 to $7,000.

Roof repairs start at around $700.00 and go up from there.  There are many significant factors that come into play, and each customer's needs will rarely be the same.

The cost to replace your roof is often significantly more expensive than the cost to repair it. On average, homeowners will spend between $5,890 and $12,800 to replace a roof. The size of the roof, the roof’s pitch, and the number of stories the house has will significantly affect the overall cost. You can expect to spend upwards of $46,000 for large, high-end roofs.

This all depends upon size, type and complexity of the actual sloped areas of the roof.  An accurate estimate with detailed lists of covered and additional items is imperative when purchasing and protecting yourself during the process.

Although not every state issues licenses for roofing pros, it's important to check with your county or city if hiring a licensed roofing contractor is necessary. Hiring an unlicensed roofer might result in low-quality work and potential legal issues if an accident happens. It’s always best to check the qualifications and licenses of your roofer before they begin a project.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Before hiring a roofing contractor to work on your project, there are a few things you will want to ask, including:

  • Do you use roofing subcontractors?

  • Do you offer a warranty?

  • Do you have any references?

  • How will you clean up after the project is complete?

  • Will you remove my old or damaged roof?

Roofing is a highly skilled and labor-intensive trade. Because of this, you can expect to pay an average of $2 per square foot for your roofing professional. Roofing labor costs generally make up about 60% of the overall project cost.
