Cutting Edge is a one stop shop for all your Landscape Installaion, Landscape Management, Snow and Ice Control and Hardscaping needs.

"The company uses heavy duty equipment of all sizes large and small. The equipment is loud. You will know it is them and not your neighbors mowing. The nice thing is that then are done very quickly. It takes them about 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Everything looks great no hassles. It is really great to not have to be mowing the lawn anymore. I use to have the watch the weather conditions for rain and heat. But not anymore. It’s really nice."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

Good news, Christmas lovers: you can keep your lights up all year, provided you choose the type. It's critical that you choose holiday lights made for outdoor use, as these can withstand winter weather conditions. In addition, it's best to use LED lights instead of incandescent ones. LED bulbs can withstand temperature shifts and are energy efficient.

If you are considering leaving your holiday lights up year-round, ask your lighting installer about permanent installation. This project costs around $3,500 but gives you about six to 10 years of LED lights and adds a pleasing aesthetic to your home.

Permanent lights can save you big in labor costs down the line, as you’ll only need to invest in installing them once. As with regular lights, costs vary based on the display and the size of your home. Costs are similar to hanging regular lights, typically falling between $220 and $650

On average, holiday decoration services cost around $800, but prices can range from around $300 to to $2,500 or more, depending on the extent of the work and home size. Simple interior holiday decoration can cost closer to $300 while hiring a decorating pro to hang exterior lights and exterior decorations alongside the interior work will total around $800. For large decorations or extensive design and decoration services, you can expect to pay $2,500. Note that these prices only include labor, not the decorations.

There are several ways to hang Christmas lights safely. Here are some key Christmas light safety tips to keep in mind:

  • Always use Christmas lights and extension cords that are rated for outdoor use.

  • Don’t overload outlets by plugging in too many lights.

  • Opt for LED lights for a safer display that saves on energy costs.

  • Do not use old or broken Christmas lights.

In the Christmas days of yore, people braved winter weather to staple or tack their Christmas lights onto their rooftops or nearby surfaces like the fascia boards. Problems quickly emerged with that approach. Damage to the roof, even small marks from staples, provides entryways for moisture and similar issues that can hasten roof rot, wear, and associated leaks. Plus, some homes had tough fiber cement boards or other materials where staples and screws didn’t work.
