"Back in March, Rigby Affordable Tree Service came to my home to do the unthinkable job. An Oak tree, over 100 years old, that my house was literally built around needed to be taken out, because every limb extended over every square foot of the new roof. With every gust of wind there was a concern of limbs 3 feet and more in diameter falling that would have certainly destroyed the house. Of course there was phone calls to other tree services in the Muncie area, but not one company would commit to doing this huge job, well except Rigby Affordable Tree Care. Not only did they commit, but the weâ re punctual, professional, honest and very affordable! A month has gone by and I am still in awe at how well this job turned out. The business owners were on the job sight on multiple occasions overseeing the work, and through multiple conversations I can attest that they are people of very high character. With this massive oak only 6-10 inches from the gutter line of my home it was a tricky job to say the least. There mindfulness, calm demeanor, and professionalism never left me with any concern. If you support small business and you have tree work in the Muncie and surrounding areas, I highly recommend that you call affordable tree care. They will not only get the job done with an affordable price but they will get the job done safely. Thank you affordable tree care for your outstanding work!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You’ll have to balance up the cost, the value of the tree (sentimental or otherwise), and the risk factors. An experienced arborist will help you understand whether transplanting is likely to be successful. The cost and hassle of transplanting a large, well-established tree are often not worth it, especially if the species is fast-growing and easy to source. The decision depends on the age and species of the tree, the conditions in the new site location, and how careful the company is when digging out and moving the tree.

Late winter is ideal, but if you’re pruning apple trees in the spring, prune them as early as possible in the season. You want to ensure your tree is just creeping out of dormancy and hasn’t started pushing out new growth. If you prune your tree too late into spring, you generally won’t see results until the following year.

That said, there’s no pruning season for unhealthy growth. Remove dead, dying, or diseased branches as soon as you notice them, regardless of the time of year.

Cutting down a dead tree is always strongly advisable. Aside from being an eyesore, a dead tree can be extremely hazardous, especially when it’s near people or structures. Even if the tree isn’t near your home, it can still harbor pests and diseases that can potentially spread to nearby plants and homes.

Peach trees don’t tend to live as long as other types of trees and crops. They tend to last only about 12 years, and you shouldn’t expect to see a full peach harvest each of those years, either. Young peach trees need a few years to get established before they produce fruit, but you should have plenty of peaches for your pies and cobblers during their mature years, around years four through eight.

Yes, healthy and well-placed large trees can boost property value by an average of 3% to 15%. They improve curb appeal, offer energy savings through shade and wind protection, and are often considered by appraisers during home valuation. On the flip side, removing dead or hazardous trees can also increase value by eliminating safety risks. For the biggest return, choose low-maintenance, native species that thrive in your climate.
