"Great results! Smooth welds. Looks like there was never a problem. Alex was very open about what he would do, explained when asked, and ensured the safety of others near the work. I feel that Alex will be my "go-to guy" for future welding needs."

"Mr. John Ernst (Area Welding Inc. LLC) is professional, courtesy an experience "Master Welder." I believed that my front and side railings were beyond repair. The front railings had separated from the foundation. However, Mr. Ernst (John) assured me that my railings could be restored and he explained every step of the welding railing restoration process. When John returned and installed my front and side railings they are absolutely beautiful. John, is truly a "Master Welder." I highly recommend Area Welding Inc. "My furnace hard failed Monday nite, I called STI and they contacted me to schedule a service tech (Ted) who came by 1st thing Tues Mrng. He was professional, explained every possible cause of failure and resolved my issue. The cost to repair was very reasonable (not cheap), but fair for considering the 2 major components that failed. My house is hold again! I will use STI Heating moving forward!"

Welding questions, answered by experts

The average cost for a welding project is about $300, with typical costs ranging from $125 to $490. However, prices can be as low as $125 for very small jobs or exceed $1,200 for large or complex projects. Welders typically charge an hourly rate between $65 and $150, depending on their experience, and many charge a minimum fee to cover overhead and travel expenses. The total cost is influenced by several factors, including labor, the cost of materials like metal rods and shielding gas, the type of metal being welded, the project's size and complexity, and your geographic location. For a precise quote, it's best to ask a local welder for an estimate based on your specific project.

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.

Cutting rectangular ductwork requires careful measurements and the right technique. Use a measuring tape and pencil to mark the cutting lines accurately. Tin snips are excellent for straight cuts on smaller ducts. For more extensive or thicker rectangular ducts, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade is effective.

Ensure the duct is well-supported and secure while cutting to prevent wobbling and maintain precision. After cutting, use a metal file to smooth any sharp edges, ensuring safety during installation.

Sawing your hot tub into more manageable chunks so it can be lifted easily into a truck takes several hours. Generally, 2.5 hours for smaller hot tubs and around 4 hours for larger ones with the help of one to two people. If money isn't a concern and you want to skip the physical labor, you can hire a pro to get the job done.

While a high-speed circular saw will cut through metal, and even cut through multiple sheets at once, the fast-spinning saw blades create a lot of heat. This heat can damage paint and other protective coatings, leading to serious problems like rust over time. The cost to paint a metal roof again to avoid this damage is typically an additional $0.50 to $1 per square foot.
