"Landscape Illumination installed landscape lighting for our home and at the same time installed year around holiday LED lights around our roofline. Customer service is great - we had a strand of LED lights act up right after installation and they were right out to replace the strand. Our landscape lighting works and looks great every night but I waited an entire year to write a review to make sure our holiday lighting worked fine this year when I turned them back on - I'm happy to say that every LED light is still working great and I changed them to ORANGE for Halloween. thanks again to the team at Landscape Illumination - landscape lighting and permanent holiday lighting was worth every penny!"

"I was so happy with my experience and results with Dylan and Cody Watson. I had this ugly, outdated 1980's rectangular light over my stovetop that I wanted replaced for years. I thought it was going to be a very expensive process replacing this light and modernizing my kitchen. They removed the light, installed recessed canned lights, with dimmer switches. They also made sure to take care of the ceiling drywall above. Looks so amazing. They were so polite and arrived on time. Dylan was great with communication, about picking out what I wanted for lighting, and how I wanted it installed. Price was extremely reasonable. I am so happy with the results. I would use them again in a heartbeat and recommend them to my friends. I found them very trustworthy, honest and hardworking"

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

Christmas lights typically do not need to be grounded like electrical circuits in your home do. However, it's crucial to use outdoor outlets equipped with ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) for added safety. GFCIs can help protect against electrical shocks and are recommended for outdoor electrical connections when using Christmas lights.

First of all, don’t shop for bargain lights—often, you’ll end up with a faulty or broken strand, full of dead bulbs or less-than-luminous brightness. Choose quality lights that will last you many years—LED lights have been known to last as long as 100,000 hours. Second, plan ahead and purchase lights for next year’s Christmas during this year’s post-holiday sales. Finally, have a vision and a plan—if you know the measurements of your home, including any windows, doors, and outside bushes you wish to light up, you should be able to only purchase the necessary lights and not more than you need.

You can take a few steps to prolong the life of your holiday lights. Make sure to replace burnt-out bulbs as quickly as possible to avoid overloading the rest of the circuit and knocking out more lights. Before packing them up each year, plug each strand into the wall to confirm everything is still working. Wrap the lights carefully back into their original packaging or something similar—winding a strand tightly together or leaving it to hang loose in a storage bin can lead to frayed or damaged wiring.

You should always hang the lights before the ornaments because hanging lights on top of ornaments can cause some to fall off. If a light sits directly on top of an ornament, it can cause it to heat up and possibly change its color or cause it to crack.

The average cost to have a professional install Christmas lights on a roof is about $420, with most homeowners spending between $220 and $650. Some companies may charge between $1.25 and $3 per square foot, excluding the cost of the lights. For extensive or complex jobs, the cost can exceed $1,000. While doing it yourself can save money, it is only recommended if you are comfortable working at heights.
