"AJ did a great job. I needed dirt fill around the house to keep water from draining into the basement , brush clean up and then the area seeded. He is very efficient and professional."

"Eric and his people are very professional.  Eric is very nice and promptly to our request.  He fixed our roof on last Saturday since it was raining on Sunday. He also gave us good advice about our roof maintenance.  The fixing price he gave is very reasonable.  We will definitely use him when we replace our roof next time and recommend him to our friends as well.

"We had an older home which needed a complete kitchen and bath update. Our remodeling job required extensive skills in carpentry, drywall, plumbing, cabinetry, finish trim work and painting. My wife and I were delighted with the finished appearance and the quality of the work. From start to finish, we were also impressed with the speed and efficiency of the entire process. In addition, we were happy to see how every effort was made to maintain a clean and safe work area."

"I researched a repairman online and ended up on Angie's List. After I filled out my info there, Justin called me a short time later. This was in the evening after work hours. He came to my house the next morning. I had directly contacted another repair company that had me waiting 3 days for repair. Justin explained exactly what he found wrong. He then provided estimate for repairs. His work was fast and efficient. He showed me the faulty parts, and we figured out the initial problem was a painter had painted door exterior which stuck causing gears to hang up and gradually bend. Justin is very knowledgeable of Craftsman openers, but he also did quick fix of Liftmaster opener on single garage door (3-car garage). Friendly, professional, and good at assessing the problem."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Be careful when choosing a product to help you remove ice from your wood deck. Never use sand, gravel, or salt, since these items can damage and scratch the wood. Instead, look for chemical de-icers that are marked as safe for wood decks or use hot water to melt snow and ice.

Cutting the boards directly is one of the fastest ways to remove deck boards with hidden fasteners. Mark two parallel lines that are one-third of the total measurement on both ends and cut out the centerpiece. Then, remove the end of the board that doesn’t have a fastener. Finally, pry open the fastened side and pull it up to pop out the screw or access the fastener. This also allows you to salvage portions of boards for other projects.

In most cases, your deck will need some form of deck footing to hold it in place, preventing moisture from rotting your wood and decreasing your deck’s lifespan. Concrete deck blocks are the most common type of footing for floating decks. Some homeowners use ground-level deck footings. For added security, consider digging and laying your ground-level footings below ground.

Pressure-treated decking may be worth it if you want a natural, insect- and rot-resistant decking material that will last for decades with proper maintenance. As such, it’s a much better option than untreated pine. Alternative wood decking materials like cedar and redwood tend to be less durable and more expensive. Some homeowners prefer composite decking, which is a low-maintenance alternative to wood but is also more costly.

No, termites do not eat Trex or any other composite decking brand. Termites eat cellulose, of which composite decking like Trex contains very little compared to natural wood. This feature can help justify the higher Trex decking costs if you live in an area with abundant termites.
