"I can't fully explain my appreciation for our entire experience with Hicon on this project. We needed to have stucco removed and subsequent resurfacing on the chimney for our home. We received a contract to sell our home in April, with an expected mid-July close date. The chimney repair was the final task we had to complete for the sale of our home. We reached out to a very popular contractor, who agreed to perform the work. That contractor never showed up. We reached out to another 'reputable' contractor, who came out to scope the project, with a promise to return a quote within a "day or two". 3 weeks later, not only did we not receive a quote - the contractor back pedaled and said they could not perform the work. Our experience with these two contractors had wasted valuable time and put us into mid-June, with only 4 weeks left until the closing of our home. In a panic, I turned to Angie's List to solicit several contractors with this specialty to please come out and scope the work. Of the 5 we reached out to - Hicon got a person out to our house within 1 day, and we had a quote in 2 days. I was very specific to ask all of the contractors to not to even submit a quote if they did not have resources to complete the project in our aggressively narrowing window. Hicon, understanding our predicament, was able to prioritize their resources to ensure they had people to perform and complete the work in time for our last inspection before closing. Their quote was specific and accurate. Everything that was described would happen, happened. For example, we were told there would be two workers there for 5 days, that they would arrive and leave at specific times, that they would perform all clean up, etc. Every one of those expectations were met, and the foreman was there on the first and last day to make sure everything was running smoothly and that the work met our expectations, which of course, it did. I appreciate honesty and straight-shooting. Not once did I feel like Hicon was taking advantage of our situation (e.g. price gauging) to make more money. Hicon's responsiveness to our situation and need was absolutely critical to being able to move forward with the sale of our home. "

"My house 80 year old house is 1/2 brick and 1/2 stucco. When I noticed some water damage on one of my interior walls, I took a good look at the exterior of the house and realized that I had a lot of mortar that had eroded over the years and a section of stucco under a second floor window which had cracked and pulled away from the house. Grover came out to inspect the house and determine which sections of brick would need to be repaired. I really appreciate that he didn't just address the area of the house that was leaking. He went a step further and found every spot around the exterior where the mortar was breaking down. I'm sure that some people would have either ignored this step, or told me that they would have to tuck point the entire house which would have cost me a lot of money. Instead, I got every trouble spot on my house repaired and no unnecessary work done. The stucco that he repaired looks amazing. He matched the original texture exactly. On top of all this, the price was very reasonable. I don't feel like I could have gotten a better deal for the work done. "
"I used this company for plaster siding replacement- we had the guys take the plaster down to the studs, insulate, vapor barrier, and replace the plaster. They also changed the face of our 100 year old Tudor by putting a different wood pattern and inset some random stones in the stucco for a more pleasing appearance than the one we had- they were a pleasure to work with and reasonably priced. We have been in our home almost 15 years and know that you do get what you pay for. We also hired the guys to paint our entire house as well as a few more stucco repairs. Do not hesitate to call Jason and Joe! Several of my neighbors have used for their homes as well! Very pleased with the results!"
The cost to replace the chimney crown or top is about $1,550 on average. The range varies widely depending on the size of the chimney, the materials used, accessibility, and the extent of the damage. If you suspect a problem with your chimney top, call a professional masonry contractor for an inspection.
Stucco applied over brick can last 30 to 50 years or more when correctly applied and properly maintained. Stucco’s lifespan can be shortened by improper application, incorrectly mixed material, lack of preparation before application, and lack of maintenance. To get the most life out of your stucco siding, keep up with maintenance and repair any damage as soon as you discover it.
The best way to assess that your stucco needs repair is to inspect it, both visually and physically. If you notice cracks, chips, or staining, that’s a good indication that your stucco could use some TLC by a professional. Additionally, if you touch an area that feels soft and has a little “give,” you should consider repairing it as soon as possible to avoid further damage, both to additional stucco spots and to your home’s structure.
Many general contractors can handle adding stucco siding, but it’s best to hire a local stucco contractor as you’re more likely to get a clean finish on your stucco siding that maximizes curb appeal. Stucco can be a challenging material to work with, so hiring a professional contractor who has years of experience and specializes in stucco application is advisable. Compare price quotes from at least three stucco contractors in your area to find the right pro for your task.
