"Well Pablo is a genuine professional he’s the only person that called me back. Someone was supposed to come on Monday but no one showed up I called Angis list and told them and the guy Joshua punched in on his phone and said he had started the job at 9:00 and then he said he completed it and charged my card $328.40 and no one ever came so I called them and they said he probably had an emergency but no call or text and then fraudulently charging my card. So unprofessional I called Angis again and they said someone will be there Wednesday at 9:00 and then I got a text saying they’d be here’s Thursday at 12:30 I couldn’t believe he bald faced lied to me so I sent them a text and then they said someone would be there Wednesday at 9:00. We’ll Tuesday Pablo called and he wanted to do an estimate and I thought he was going to paint but Angis list contacted Pablo Tuesday and he called and said he’d be over at 10:00 on Wednesday we’ll Wednesday came and no one showed up at 9:00 I called Angis and they said “ he doesn’t feel like working today “ and I said are you kidding me what kind of company are you running so I give Angis list zero stars. Pablo does excellent work he painted my living room and bathroom the living room had an accent wall and took three coats to go from red to blue it looks amazing and he is really professional I want my cabinets painted in the kitchen and he already gave me a quote and I think it’s totally fair price . So if you need something painted contact Ayala Painting Pablo and his workers are awesome!!!!"

"I would totally recommend this company! Ariel went above and beyond for me when replacing my roof and gutters! Ariel would call me and let me know he was on the way or if he was running even 5 minutes behind. My house looks great and I will be using them again come spring to start replacing some of my windows. Thank you Ariel! Your crew was great, too."

"I had him come in for a quote before Christmas but we weren't ready until March. He said to pick out colors at Sherwin Williams where he gets a deal. They had a great color selection. He did the family room, living room and hall all in 3 days. They even moved the furniture and cleaned behind it.

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Footings for ground-level decks need to be at least 12 inches deep, and some areas require them to be even deeper. A standard range for deck footings is anywhere from 12 to 48 inches. The minimum footing depth is determined by an area’s frost line and soil conditions. If you’re unsure how deep to install deck footings, check local building codes to find the minimum footing depth in your area.

The best direction for a gate to swing depends on its location and purpose, but swinging inward is the general rule. An inward swing is often considered safer, prevents the gate from opening into public spaces like a sidewalk, and may be required by local building codes.

There are exceptions and specific considerations. If your property is on a slope, an inward swing might not be possible. For a deck gate, it's safest to have it swing away from any steps. In a backyard, the direction can be a matter of preference, though an inward swing can be helpful when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

Regardless of direction, ensure the gate can open fully without hitting any objects or blocking spaces. While an inward swing is standard, a gate that can swing both in and out offers the most flexibility if your setup allows for it.

Because adding a deck will yield a higher property value, you may have higher insurance costs. It’s important to follow the codes and regulations set by your local and state governments, so your insurance rates can be properly calculated. You may need an insurance revaluation after your deck is completed. The best course of action is to speak with an insurance professional to understand how adding a deck will impact your home’s insurance costs before you begin.

Building a deck without a permit could lead to fines for both the homeowner and the contractor. The exact penalties will depend on your state and municipal building laws. You might also be required to remove the deck and apply for a permit before you can build another. While it might be tempting to skip the permit to save a few bucks, it’ll cost you much more if you’re caught.

When staining a deck, don’t skip surface prep, avoid staining damp or dirty boards, and don’t apply stain in extreme heat, cold, or wet conditions. Never overload the wood with a stain, as too much can cause tackiness or peeling. Also, don’t forget to test a small area first to ensure the color and finish look right.
