"Jeff Lawson was polite and very thorough when he explained the process he did. He listened to what I said and when I asked him questions he answered them so I could understand the answers without being confused. Would highly recommend him to everyone wanting foundation work."

"I called and spoke with Marc Cooper, Senior Project Specialist. I explained the problem I was having and he agreed to a premise visit to take a look at the issue. We set a time and date, he followed up with a confirmation call the day before the appointment and again the day of the appointment. He later called me on the day of the appointment and told me he could arrive earlier if that worked for me. Although my problem was not something his company handled, he took the time to help me, in the cold rain, with the downspout placement and gave me a recommendation of how to fix the issue. Because he did not have a qualified vendor to recommend, he declined to recommend anyone, which I appreciated. He went above and beyond and even got soaked in the rain trying to help out. Who could ask for anything more?"

Patios questions, answered by experts

A solarium is a luxury addition to a home and can be an excellent breakfast area or reading space, but that doesn't mean there aren't disadvantages. For one, since the room is made of glass it can look dirty very quickly. Another disadvantage is solariums are notoriously hard to balance temperature and will most likely significantly increase your heating and air conditioning bill. Unlike a greenhouse addition to a house, a solarium won’t help you grow as many plants.

A well-constructed and well-maintained sunroom can last as long as the rest of your house. If you build the sunroom to the same standards using the same quality materials as the house and perform regular maintenance to ensure the room stays in top condition, it can bring you decades of enjoyment.

In almost all cases, you will need permits if you plan on building a sunroom over your patio, but regulations and requirements will depend on your municipality. Permits to enclose your patio will usually cost between $300 and $1,000. Since navigating local building codes and zoning requirements is challenging—and the consequences of not following them can be extremely expensive—we strongly recommend hiring a sunroom builder to complete the work and pull the permits for you.

Aluminum, vinyl, and wood all offer unique benefits for durability and aesthetics.

While there is no one size that’s considered best, the sunroom size that’s best for you will come down to the size of your home and how you want to use your sunroom. Smaller sunrooms under 120 square feet provide a nice semi-outdoor sitting area, medium-sized sunrooms between 120 and 200 square feet can house an outdoor dining area and a small area for additional seating, and large sunrooms over 200 square feet can serve multiple purposes and even include an outdoor kitchen.
