"I had 6 trees removed and some other damaged trees cleaned up from a huge storm by McCormick Outdoor Services. One tree was very large and hanging over the garage. They did excellent work, the price was good, and were very communicative though the process. I will definitely use them again if needed."

"I had talked to Andy on the phone.  He said he would be by to and showed up about 1:00pm and started to work.  I heard the noise from his roller and went out to see him in the front yard.  It took him 45 to 60 minutes to complete the job.  We discussed some other work I wanted done.  He said he would have to check on the price of the product.  He gave me a call back in about 30 to 45 minutes.  We agreed on the scope of the future job.

"I had 6 stumps and an entire large bush pulled out by this company. They hauled off everything and filled in the holes where the stumps and bush had been. They leveled the soil in all areas where they had worked, and there were no ruts left from the machinery they used in the yard at all. I also had Austin, Chayton, and Parker come in and trim all of my trees. They raked up all of the sticks and mulched them along with all of the branches that were trimmed out of the trees. Everything looked great when they were done. I was very pleased with their work on both jobs, and I appreciated the way they made sure that I was completely satisfied with the work they had done. I would not hesitate to recommend them to others."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Since summer is a busy time for tree companies, the cheapest time of year to remove a tree is during the winter. February and March are typically the prime time to hire a tree removal pro, and some homeowners living in colder climates can save around 20% off services. It depends on location and the company, but you can always shop around for the best deal.

Some trees, such as silver maples, birches, sycamores, and scotch pines, shed their bark naturally. If your tree is not one that does this, it might have fallen prey to pests, fungi, or diseases. It could also simply be suffering from an extreme weather change, such as a snowstorm or heat wave. If you’re still stumped, consulting with a pro can help you diagnose your tree’s specific problem.

The depth of tree roots depends on the species. Trees like oaks and maples can have root systems that grow down 20 feet or more. However, trees that grow in shallow soils will have roots that go only a few feet down. Research how your tree species grows in your climate area to estimate root depth.

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.

Dying trees and even dead trees can spread diseases to other living trees. There are many different types of tree diseases, so it’s essential to address the issue as soon as possible to prevent the disease from spreading to other healthy trees. If the tree cannot be saved and is infected, you need to have it removed to protect the other trees on your property.
