"Project was done quickly. Price was higher that others, but I hired them because they could address my issue immediately that same day. I had a small fire in my electrical box and needed the box and breakers replaced. Tech was knowledgeable and nice work work with and provided updates as he worked. He finished the job within a few hours. Reason for 4 stars instead of 5…price was high. Also, I came home the day after the job was done and my furnace was off and my washer/dryer breaker was tripped. Haven’t determined the cause yet, but will provide an update once I figure it out or have Precision back out to check things."

"We had some dead electrical outlets that the circuit breaker flipping did not fix. Found the problem (60 year old breaker w/ corroded contacts) and fixed it. Had them also replace two electrical outlet (near our washing machine, one in the bathroom) with GCFI outlets to bring them (closer) to code. Also pointed out that our electrical panel is at the age to be replaced, but did not push into anything ."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

When planning electrical projects in Tinley Park, always confirm permit requirements before starting, as most upgrades and electrical panel replacements need approval and inspection. Local weather, including heavy snow and storms, means outdoor wiring must be weatherproof and protected against surges. Many homes from the 1960s-1980s may require electrical upgrades, so coordinating with utility providers and considering energy efficiency improvements is also recommended for long-term safety and reliability.

Helpful?

If your Tinley Park home was built before 1980 or you notice frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or warm outlets, it’s time to consider electrical upgrades. Planning renovations, adding high-demand appliances, or needing more outlets for modern devices are also strong indicators. Scheduling indoor electrical work during winter can minimize disruption, while upgrading before summer helps handle increased electrical loads from air conditioning and electronics.

Helpful?

After completing electrical projects in Tinley Park, schedule any required inspections to finalize permits and keep documentation for your records. Regularly test GFCI outlets and check your breaker panel for signs of wear or overheating. For homes with older wiring, consider annual electrical system inspections. Updating your home insurance with details of the work and monitoring for unusual energy usage can help protect your investment and ensure ongoing safety.

Helpful?

In Tinley Park, be cautious of quotes that exclude permit fees, seem unusually low, or lack clear details about materials and labor. Watch for contractors who rush you to sign, recommend skipping required permits, or can’t explain local code compliance. Always request local references, a written estimate, and confirmation of post-project cleanup and inspection procedures to ensure your electrical upgrades are completed safely and professionally.

Helpful?

Homes in Tinley Park built between 1960 and 1990, especially ranch or bi-level styles, often benefit from electrical panel upgrades and new wiring. If you rely on extension cords, have a mix of two- and three-prong outlets, or use a 100-amp service panel, your home is likely due for an upgrade. Modernizing your electrical system improves safety, supports today’s technology, and can enhance your property’s value in the local market.
