We are a locally owned and operated tree service in the Quad Cities that values honesty and integrity, treating each of our customers home as if it were our own. We offer a variety of services that are customizable to each individual project. Our services include: tree removal, tree trimming, lot clearing, and even have fully processed premium firewood for sale. We do not grind stumps unless we do the tree removal for the stump. We also own and operate a mobile sawmill, which gives us the capability of traveling to almost any location to mill custom lumber. Cully's always has a wide variety of kiln dried custom hard woods for sale in our inventory suitable for any unique project. You will find us to be competitively priced, as well as paying close attention to the details of each and every project that we are involved with. We look forward to building lasting relationships with our customers, and we guarantee your satisfaction!

"Great job! I would hire them again."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You’ll have to balance up the cost, the value of the tree (sentimental or otherwise), and the risk factors. An experienced arborist will help you understand whether transplanting is likely to be successful. The cost and hassle of transplanting a large, well-established tree are often not worth it, especially if the species is fast-growing and easy to source. The decision depends on the age and species of the tree, the conditions in the new site location, and how careful the company is when digging out and moving the tree.

Trees that flower in the spring—like dogwood, cherry, magnolia, and pear—should not be pruned during the winter. These spring-flowering plants grow buds on old growth, so you’ll actually remove what would’ve been gorgeous flowering foliage. Instead, wait to prune until right after they bloom, when the flowers fade.

A tree can split because of high winds, a change in temperature, or from an infestation or tree disease. All of these factors can overlap, making a single cause difficult to pinpoint. While winter storms are some of the most common causes for a tree to split, it can also happen because of termites or rot.

Regular pruning, monitoring for disease, and fertilization promote healthy growth.

Whether you grind or dig up and remove your tree stump depends on your landscaping goals. Using a stump grinder leaves the root system in place for it to decompose over time, whereas digging up the tree stump removes the roots and the stump. Overall, stump grinding is a far simpler process since you won’t need to deal with the roots. Stump removal will make your yard look like a demolition site, but you’ll have an easier time replanting in the same place as your former tree.
