"Excellent service.  Oscar and his crew go far and above what is necessary to fix or replace plumbing.  They are very conscientious, courteous and respectful.  They are also very considerate of your property, taking measures to insure that floors are kept clean and all debris is removed when they leave.  I will hire Rardin Plumbing and Heating again, and I highly recommend them.

"First men that came were HEAVY on the sales. Seemed like used car sales. And low on the understanding the options. We had to make a selection before they'd show us any price. LONG interview with little to show for it. Very stuck on getting you to decide there and then. On the second visit the man was much more forth right and helpful. Still didn't go with Sears because we couldn't trust them for the overall value (seem to have a large over head) or who does the work (and a negative taste with 'sales')."

"We recently moved into our home and had felt that the air quality was poor and the vents needed to be cleaned. We were experiencing new allergies and chronic congestion. Jami was excellent when explaining the services and pricing, Dillon and team worked very hard to clean our entire system. After the requested cleaning, they showed before and after pictures of each vent/main. Dillon discovered mold in the furnace and in basement vents. The team stayed later than expected to add sanitation and furnace cleaning. All at an extremely reasonable price. We notice a big difference in our air quality in our house! We all feel better and deal with a lot less dusting when cleaning the house."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The cost to repair an air conditioner averages around $350 to $450, but the price can range from $100 to over $3,000. The final cost depends on the type of air conditioner, the extent of the damage, and the specific parts that need replacement. For example, repairing a window AC unit typically costs between $100 and $250, while central air conditioner repairs can range from $300 to $3,000. A simple fix like replacing a dirty filter might only cost $10 to $50, but a major issue like a broken compressor could cost around $2,000 or more, potentially making it more cost-effective to replace the entire system. Due to the need for specialty tools and handling of refrigerants, repairs more complex than changing a filter are best left to a professional.

No, you should not attempt to replace an AC evaporator coil yourself. This is a complex task that must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. The process involves handling hazardous and flammable refrigerants, which poses significant safety risks. Attempting a DIY replacement can also cause further damage to your HVAC system and will likely void its warranty. It is necessary to hire a local AC repair professional for this job.

High humidity, bad insulation, warmth from sunlight, and poor circulation are all reasons your home’s hotter inside than out. While this is what you want in the colder months, summer can become unbearable if this is a constant. Try to find the cause, but you need to remember that issues like this require a permanent fix (unless you want to bear down during the summer months).

You need to know the square footage of your home first. Multiply that number by 20, which will get you the BTUs (British Thermal Units) needed to cool your home efficiently. Homes up to 1,000 square feet usually need a 1.5-ton unit; homes 1,000 to 1,200 square feet usually need a 1.75-ton unit, and homes 1,200 to 1,400 square feet usually need a 1.9-ton unit. Talk to a local pro for more specific advice on your home.

Yes, you can run an attic fan with the AC on. In fact, you don’t have a choice with a passive attic fan. Plus, when an attic fan draws out hot air from the attic, it helps regulate the temperature of your whole home, so your AC doesn't have to work as hard.
