"John Havrish serviced our roof concerns beyond the initial call to solve a leak issue. He serviced our skylight. roof vents, checked for nail pop and sealed any that needed attention. John also painted our fireplace chimney cap and pan cover as well. He was at our home for about 2-1/2 hours. Good job done by an expert!"

"On 23-Sep-2013 we had two 10 inch diameter solar tubular skylights installed by Solar Brite: one in a bathroom and the other in a
walk-in closet, where neither of these interior rooms had any other means of natural light.
Prior to contracting for this effort, Art was willing to come to our house and examine the situation and recommend the size of SolaTube that would be needed.  We felt this was an important component of his service to us, which some other companies were unwilling to do.
The installation was accomplished by Art and a coworker, who completed both installations in less than 3 hours. They arrived as scheduled, laid down drop cloths to prevent any debris accumulation, consulted with us over the exact positioning of the skylights in the ceilings, and cleaned up once the SolaTubes were in place.
While on the roof, Art noted that a vent stack seal was deteriorating and needed to be replaced which he promptly did for a small charge.
We are very pleased with their work and the natural light in each room provided by the SolaTubes which is more than sufficient for our daytime needs.  We do not hesitate to recommend them.

"Had some hail damage to one of my 4 skylight domes, so I decided to have all 4 of them replaced. Contacted Tim after finding him on Angi and he visited my house the following day and gave me a subsequent quote, which I approved. Replacement skylights were ordered and Tim installed them a couple of weeks later. Tim is a professional who is thorough, cordial and exactly what you want in a contractor. Highly recommend !"

"It is a second home, used by our son in college so no one was there. We gave him a key and left the rest to Tim. He did a great job and even made sure the alarm system was set. He could have claimed a lot of the roof was rotted and we wouldn't have known but he didn't. He found bad flashing and called for approval. Very honest. Good quality work."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Professionals repair or seal a skylight by inspecting for damages, resealing any gaps with appropriate weatherproofing materials, replacing cracked glass or seals, and ensuring the frame is tightly fitted to prevent future leaks and ensure proper drainage.

In most cases, installing skylights will add value to your home, making them a worthwhile investment for many homeowners. Buyers are often attracted to the aesthetic appeal of skylights, as they make rooms feel brighter, airier, and more spacious by introducing natural light without compromising privacy. Beyond aesthetics, skylights can offer monetary benefits by potentially reducing energy bills. Additionally, models that can be opened provide extra ventilation, which is particularly useful in hotter climates for allowing accumulated hot air to escape from the ceiling. However, the return on investment depends on several factors. To maximize value, it's crucial that the skylights are installed by an experienced professional to avoid risks like water damage, which can deter savvy buyers. Regular maintenance and cleaning are also important. Furthermore, choosing the right frame and glazing materials for your specific climate will enhance their performance and appeal. While skylights are generally seen as an asset, homeowners should also consider the initial cost, which averages around $1,500 for installation.

Fixed skylights are by far the most popular type. Because skylights can be pretty high up on your ceiling, fixed (rather than operable) skylights remove some maintenance from the equation. Plus, you don’t have to constantly worry if you shut your skylight fully the last time you opened it or if you’re going to find a leak later on during a rainy day.

Common skylight issues include leaks, condensation between glass panes, damaged seals, and cracks in the glazing. Regular exposure to weather elements can lead to these problems, requiring timely attention to preserve the integrity of the skylight and the surrounding roof structure.

Yes, solar tubes are easier to install than skylights because they’re lighter, smaller, and easier to handle. They also require less roof cutting and have a faster, simpler installation process. This means they’re a more DIY-friendly option for homeowners who want to add more natural light to their homes.
