"Workmanship was incredible but even more important was the communication from Cesar AND the responsiveness. None of this â itâ ll be four weeks until we can get out thereâ . They were out within a week and completed in a single day. Thatâ s a 30â brick walkway and a huge fire pit area. Very impressed."

"Cody is a great, young, hard-working man.  He's willing to do anything and he's honest.  It's nice to come home to see a well kept yard after a long week.
I hope that Cody can get to the other projects we've discussed - right now the rain is falling at such frequent intervals that he's working tons of hours to keep up with that work.

"Paul did an excellent job installing a walkout from my basement. They also did an extension to my driveway at the same time. They were in and out in 5 days. What an amazing amount of work to be completed in a short time. They were extremely professional and had no issues with me coming into the work area to see how things were being done. I would highly recommend Captains Concrete & Construction for any and all of your concrete needs."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $3 to $7 per square foot, depending on the area size and project scope.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.

Sometimes, when people talk about asphalt driveways, they’re actually referring to asphalt concrete, which is a completely different compound. Asphalt concrete is asphaltic cement combined with sand or grit. It is significantly more lasting and durable than regular asphalt but also much more expensive. If you’re considering using asphalt concrete, ask an asphalt company for their expert opinions.

This creates a risk for your driveway to fail after asphalt curing because it doesn't have a lasting bond with the surface. In order to get asphalt to perform as intended, it's necessary to prepare the dirt surface correctly first. The loose soil base under the new driveway must be compacted until it is stable enough to support the weight of the asphalt.

Gravel is the cheapest way to extend a driveway. Gravel is an affordable, practical option that’s easy to install and perfect for DIY projects, helping you save on labor costs. It can be quickly spread and leveled to create extra driveway space without heavy preparation. While gravel doesn’t offer the same durability or finished look as concrete or asphalt, its low cost makes it ideal for budget-conscious homeowners who want a functional solution without overspending.
