"My furnace is from 1962 the way he cleaned it up you couldn't ask for better service than that and the way they clean up their mess after they are finished I would hire them again in a second"

"Did an outstanding job. We have lived here for 4 years and he said it has never been cleaned, not even once. Removed 31 gallons of dust/hair from our ductwork. Very professional and definitely recommend him and his company. Very thorough."

"Our dryer quit drying clothes so we had a duct cleaner come out (thru Home Advisor). They explained that we had a bad clog due to condensation buildup. They recommended we replace the flexible exhaust pipe with rigid style of pipe but they never come or called back with the estimate. Fast forward a few weeks after their "cleaning" and there was absolutely NO AIR coming out of the exhaust. We tried to find them again since they apparently didn't finish the job but had no luck finding them. Mr Drummond saw that we were looking for the service again and called us that same day, came out within 72 hrs, gave an estimate and came back within 3-4 days (on a Saturday) and fixed the issue. He switched out the flexible for rigid pipe, finished the cleaning job and replaced the outside exhaust vent. We are very happy so far and will definitely recommend Drummond Carpet & Upholstery Care."

Air Duct Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, or ASHRAE, sets the standard guidelines for air changes per hour in homes and businesses. The International Residential Code, or IRC, also sets ACH requirements for residences and bases those requirements off of ASHRAE standards plus climate specifics related to your location.

Turn your system off when you're toasty or when you're out to prevent unnecessary wear. Using the timer on your thermostat so that it switches off when it reaches a certain temperature or turns on just before you get back from work is best. An annual maintenance contract can be helpful to ensure your system receives these important services at regular intervals.

Musty smells often indicate the presence of mold, which can lead to various health risks. Inhalation of mold spores may trigger allergic reactions, causing sneezing, a runny or stuffy nose, and itchy or watery eyes. People who suffer from mold allergies or asthma may experience more severe respiratory problems. Certain types of mold, like black mold, can lead to mycotoxicosis, a condition associated with serious health effects like respiratory problems, fatigue, headaches, and skin irritation if exposure continues for an extended period. Those with weakened immune systems, respiratory problems, or allergies may be more vulnerable to the health risks that come with musty smells. Therefore, it is crucial to address and eliminate the source of the odor promptly.

Several factors contribute to the persistent growth of mold in vents, with excess moisture being the most common culprit. Consistent mold formation in vents indicates an ongoing moisture problem within the HVAC system or its surroundings, likely caused by condensation on cool surfaces in areas with high humidity. Moisture accumulation can also result from leaks in ductwork, inadequate ventilation, or insufficient insulation, creating an environment favorable for mold growth. Regular inspections, addressing potential sources of moisture, maintaining proper ventilation, and routine HVAC maintenance can help prevent the recurrence of mold in vents. If the issue persists, seek professional assistance to identify and rectify the underlying problems.

Onions, peppers, fish, broccoli, and fried chicken taste great—but the leftover smells can be less than appetizing. Even if these foods are cooked perfectly, the odors they leave behind can linger well beyond the dishes being cleared and washed. Fortunately, you can use the same tips to get a burnt smell out of the house and remove stubborn food odors. In addition, make sure you’re keeping your fridge clear of odor-smelling foods for too long to keep the stench from invading other foods.
