"Failed to show up on agreed upon work date due to overbooking. Bid vinyl for an aluminum replacement, then was unresponsive about bidding aluminum. When we decided to go elsewhere, six months later they sent us an invoice for an additional, arbitrary $3k for work not performed. We disputed the invoice and never heard back until we got another invoice another seven months later seeking double the original amount including monthly interest and an ‘overhead & profit’ fee."

If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway. 

Gravel driveways last the longest. With proper installation and routine maintenance, they can last upwards of 100 years. To make sure they last as long as possible, gravel driveways should be properly graded and leveled during installation and repair. Asphalt does better in cold climates and works well with radiant heat systems. Porous asphalt is also excellent for wet climates, as it allows the water to drain away. However, it does get unpleasantly hot in the summer and requires more maintenance than concrete.
